October 5, 200916 yr Hi,The aircraft as in the topic has fuel tank selector. One can switch it between the 1st and the 2nd one. Of course, no matter which one I choose, the engine works correctly, but the question is how should I change between them to perform like a real pilot? Should I let some fuel go from the one tank and then switch to another? How is it done in reality? I assume that it is impossible to consume fuel from both tanks an the same time. Thanks in advance for all answers.Regards,
October 5, 200916 yr Some aircraft have a fuel select from 'Both', some you have to either choose left or right. I'm not a real world pilot so I can't comment specifically, but I believe I've heard the rule of 2 hours on each side...if the fuel quantity allows. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |

I think that 2h consumption from one tank will unbalance the plane significantly. Depending on engine performance, the total amount of fuel lasts for 4-5 hours of flying. The documentation included with the aircraft does not explain it and that is why I ask for real-life experience.

IOW don't switch fuel tanks before taking off and not during initial climb phase of flight. Afterwards you will usually switch every 15 minutes of flight making sure you turn on the fuel pump before switching. Ensure you are using the tank with more fuel as you do your prelanding check and once again don't switch again till after landing or after completing a missed approach.
