TripleHead2Go Performance

Featured Replies

Hi, I recently bought and installed my TripleHead2go digital which I use to run 3 LCD monitors at 1280*1024. Just want to check everything is working as it should. I have noticed that since installing the TH2G that my desktop and applications run slower than before (e.g it takes longer to load windows explorer and Excel/Word are slightly slower than before) - is this normal? In FSX itself my framerates are lower (understandably so as more is being rendered) but it also takes long to change the settings which seems strange. For example in the welcome screen when I click on change plane there is a pause of around 10 seconds before the plane list comes up. Is that normal? Any advice much appreciated Jon

FSX also seems to crash a lot more than before. Crashes and jams frequently occur on first loading a flight.Jon

Do you get out of memory errors?
I did but followed the advice in Nick's FSX tips to amend my boot.ini file and don't anymoreJon

Would you be opposed to replacing your video card with one of the new HD 5870s which natively support 3 monitors at up to 2560x1600 resolution (each)? That would certainly alleviate the performance issues.

My car has trouble starting. Your logic has me buying a new one. WOW!I had a similar problem. I updated my display driver at the time and the problem hasnt returned.

This is untrue.I did not tell the OP to buy a new PC. That would be the equivalent to what you describe. I offered an alternative solution that would also net more performance and do away with the dependency on external hardware which clearly complicates matters.

I thought you were a pc tech helping to trouble shoot problems and not a salesman. My Bad. Not everyone has boat loads of money that they can throw around. I also think it particularly coincidental that as soon as Sam left you immediately became the outspoken expert. I have a sneaking suspicion your one and the same. Its obvioulsy just a software glitch. I fixed mine by upgrading the drivers. A pc tech telling the owner to buy a new card without any trouble shooting is shamefull.

I offered a possible solution by way of ASKING if it was acceptable to the OP. The solution I'm offering is one that will decrease complexity and increase performance. Take your witch hunt elsewhere. My name is Max, as my user name states.

:( Not a witch hunt Sam...Oops sorry Max. Just an observation over many months. Your just annoying like Sam.As for your solution. Your solution WONT work. Jon by purchasing a triple head most probably doesnt have display ports on any of his monitors. Do you know what that means Max? That means Eyefinity WILL NOT work. If you had any real world experience of this card instead of just what you are reading in the forums, you would know this and not just recommend the card as THE SOLUTION without first knowing what display devices he is using.

There are active display port adapters available which will work with monitors that have DVI ports rather than displayport. Don't let facts get in the way of your witch hunt though. Nice try at a "gotcha" though. Gonna give it another go? That's what now, 3?I see you continuing to rail against me but have yet to offer any helpful advice other than the standard "update your driver", which, as we all know, is rarely the solution for FS9/FSX as these are now legacy apps and newer drivers are more likely to induce problems than solve them but hey, there's another one of those pesky facts again...

So now you agree that he may have to purchase an additional adapter for it to work. Your a Tech please be more specific. As such I will let facts (we know how your all about facts Max) get in the way as your original solution is costly, misleading and in most likelyhood would not have worked. As for the "gotcha" LOL... grow up.I have my problem fixed. No longer a problem. Im not a tech unlike yourself so besides digging yourself out of your hole have you offered any further advice to Jon to help fix the problem at hand? Instead of battling it out with me why dont you ask for more specifics like any good tech would and help Jon with his problem. Or is your ego to big for that?

My intention is not to get into the middle of any squabbles, but it's interesting that no one has asked the OP what video card he is using with the TH2G digital, nor are any system specs stated anywhere. All we know is a TH2G digital is in use with 3 monitors. How is putting more money into a graphics card and dumping a brand new TH2G going to help the OP if we don't even know his mobo will support the 5870?Although I probably can't solve the problem, I'll at least start by asking the OP to state his system specs and if he has tested FSX without the TH2G by directly connecting the video card to one of the monitors and see if there are similar issues. We need to isolate the problem by knowing for certain that the TH2G is creating the problems and it's not a coincidental side issue that happened at the same time. What is the current video driver in use and have other screen resolutions been tested to see if there are similar poor response issues?

Actually glad you have. Our new resident outspoken pc expert tottally ignored the basic fundamentals of pc troubleshooting with his solution. I wasnt any better with my reaction and consequent posts and I appologize to the OP and readers for that.

I like how you continue on your witch hunt while disregarding the simple fact that I've only offered one possible solution that is superior to the OP's current solution. Also you'll note (as I've already pointed out) I did not say:"do this"but rather"would you be opposed to doing this?"Are you capable of distinguishing the difference between these two statements? Apparently not.OP: if you're still reading this thread after all the pointless accusations and attempted thread hijack by a troll, would you answer my original question? I realize that replacing hardware is not the most pain-free solution but in this case eliminating the external device that is complicating your configuration would simplify future troubleshooting efforts when necessary. Additionally, it looks like the new ATi cards can provide a performance boost over previous hardware, depending on where and what you fly.
