October 13, 200916 yr Hello Guys !Upon loading Scenery I get this message:Scenery.cfg "Remote scenery directory () in Scenery not found" ..where did he go ???????? any idea ??? :( Yair
October 13, 200916 yr It's just telling you that the scenery library shows that you have a scenery installed but it cannot find the scenery anymore. You might have moved a directory or deleted a directory, such as MegaScenery and the Scenery Library can no longer find it. You also could have uninstalled an FSX program such as MyTrafficX and the program was uninstalled but no change was made to the scenery directory. Your first clue might be looking in the scenery.cfg for any recently FS addon that was recently uninstalled. While you have the scenery.cfg open, located in the Program Data directory (for Vista), check for any errors. An error would be scenery areas/layers not matching or not in numerical sequence. Simply renumber the ones out of sequence and see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't solve it, I would open the scenery library and open each scenery listed until you find one that shows scenery cannot be found. A lot of FSX program addons will save a backup of your scenery.cfg before it adds their scenery and, when you uninstall it, it replaces the backed up scenery.cfg. This backed up scenery.cfg will probably not have any scenery you added afterwards thus creating scenery.cfg errors. Hope you can understand...Best regards,Jim

Not sure what you mean about the above question though. I'm assuming that when you hit the "Fly" button, your scenery, aircraft, and terrain are loading and are taking up to 20 minutes to load. Unfortunately, this is fairly common but it shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes at the most. One reason for this is the fact that FSX and scenery addons scatter their files all over your harddrive. You should always fully defragment your harddrive whenever you install FSX or an addon. It's unbelievable how much improvement you will see after this is done. Another reason for long loading times is the amount of AI you have installed. If AI is set to a high setting in your config, the system will have to load that amount of AI aircraft and flight plans around the world. This is done in milliseconds but still takes some time. If you have any MegaScenery or Photoscenery addons, these must be loaded too and that amounts to thousands of files. Many people go into their Scenery Library and disable (uncheck) any scenery that will not be used in the current flying session then these will not be loaded when you load a flight. At a minimum, you should defrag your harddrive after installing FSX and regularly afterwards. Hope this helps.Best regards,Jim Young
October 15, 200916 yr Author .. .... much better now. took some of the scenery, and we back to normal, more or less. :( ...now, this one is a real challenge, the ultimate FPS issue. I followed some advices of how to tweak in order to improve FPS, .... tweaking here tweaking there and I ended up with 3 to 4 FPS in places where I got 14 to 16 FPS ... have no idea how to revise and go back to point A .. in some cases I'M having issues with VGA driver that crashes ( windows 7 recovering instantly) during the flight.Thought about:Uninstalling and reinstalling FSX (Real pain in the A... since I got tons of Addons)Reinstall VGA driver (nVIDIA GTX9800+), assuming, of course, that something is corrupted. Switching to Backgammon on line, no FPS issues, & no more crashing my little 177RG at KSAN R/W 9 .... ATC Guy got really P/O with me :( What do you thing ?? Really, appreciate your help and advices !Reg.YairIrvine CA P.S.. I'm experimenting TileProxy, looks, cool ... It will take Flight Sim to the next level

It will take Flight Sim to the next levelWhenever you get the error message "display driver has stopped working and has restarted again" or something like that, it means your display drivers are not installed properly and/or FSX is on the verge of crashing due to lack of memory. Do you have the 32 or 64 bit Windows 7 OS installed? With the 32 bit OS, you want to make sure you have the switches installed to prevent out of memory problems (for Vista and Windows 7 that would be the increaseuserva= switch). You can find more info at the following link plus info on how to tune your FSX for the best FPS: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041. Lastly, make sure you completely uninstall your display drivers before reinstalling. Here's what I do:Right Click on Computer Icon on your Desktop and select PropertiesClick on Device ManagerClick on Display Adapters and click on your display adapter and open it up.Click on the Driver Tab and click on UninstallYou'll then be told to confirm the uninstalling of the device drivers. Most important: Make sure the check box to uninstall the driver software is checked. This will uninstall all the drivers for your device including those in the Windows/System folder. Shutdown and restart your system. I usually run a registry cleaner after the OS restarts but found this might be a little excessive. Your call! Once completed, reinstall your display drivers. Hope this helps!Best regards,Jim Young

If so, there is a well known "bug" in Win 7 which requires a slightly different procedure when adding scenery.Take a look at these resources - they illustrate very well how it must be done:http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=205432Also a good video:http://iblueyonder.com/video-tutorial-adding-scenery-to-fsx-in-windows-7/Hope that helps.
