Being asked to reinstall FSFlightTracker When I Open FSX !

Featured Replies

All of a sudden, when I start FSX, I am greeted by a message saying I need to reinstall FSFlightTracker a program I do have installed but rarely use. After I hit cancel a few times, I seem to be able to move forward and open FSX. HOWEVER, when I try to then run a subprogram such as FSInn or alike, I get the same pop up boxes and then FSX locks up.Here's what I've tried so far:Uninstalling FsFlightTrackerRepairing my registry with the Flight1 ToolReinstalling FSUIPCNone of these things worked. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,Dave Attached Thumbnails

There is something in the FSX.cfg that's starting or trying to start FSFlightTracker. Either rename your FSX.cfg to fsx.old and allow a new FSX.cfg to be rebuilt or go into the FSX.cfg and see if you can find the offending line that's causing it to start up.Best regards,Jim Young

Thanks for the thought Jim, but no luck. I did determine one other point of interest though....This does not only occur when I start FSX but also when I start FSX related software such as Load managers for LVL-D 767, Maddog, etc. However, it does not happen with any none flightsim related software.....This is really crazy....

Make sure there's nothing in the Modules folder in the main FSX directory relating to FSFlightTracker. Since you uninstalled, make sure there's no FSFlightTracker related directory still left. Make sure there's no line in the dll.xml or exe.xml files as these are loaded as fsx is started. Run a registry cleaner or, if you're familiar with the registry and are able to edit w/o issues, search for FSFlightTracker and delete all references. Best regards,Jim

Just guessing, but look in fsx.cfg, and remove any entry in the

[trusted]

section referring to that program, then open exe.xml and dll.xml (depends on if the program starts as a .dll or .exe) and do the same. It will look like this:

  <Launch.Addon>	<Disabled>False</Disabled>	<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>	<Name>WinchX!</Name>	<Path>E:\Flight Simulator X\Modules\WinchX!\WinchX.exe</Path>	<CommandLine>	</CommandLine>	<NewConsole>True</NewConsole> </Launch.Addon>

but pointing to your addon of coursescott s..

OK..SOLVED !!....sort of....I was able to find the .msi file which was being asked for, directed the installer to it, and now all is well. Still doesn't explain why it wanted it as the program was not even installed but.....Anyway, Thank you all for your efforts !!

But in your OP, you indicated you did have it installed but rarely used it. Glad you got it fixed!Best regards,Jim
