WestJet is using reduced thrust departures from CYYJ- I believe to save fuel. Since I live only a half mile from the flyway I ask flight simmers, in the interest of noise abatement, to also adhere to reduced power settings!!!!! <grin>Alex Reid
For a really fun departure, fly somewhere out of Orange County (KSNA) There is great scenery ( sna2004.zip on Flightsim.com, plus MegaScenery SoCal and Blueskyscenery). It is located in the middle of SoCal and there are tons of airports in California, Nevada, Arizona and Mexico within an hour's reach. The departure procedures call for a thrust reduction to ~75% N1 at 1000', and then a slow climbout to 3000', and normal climb power isn't allowed until 6 miles. Add in the quick turns on the departure and ATC, and it can be challenging.

Many years ago I wished to have an M2 mounted in our birds so I could fire warning shots across the nose of GA pilots encroaching in our airspace whilst I was stationed at Tustin. CH-46s are not supposed to fly on their sides yet we had to many times. When you can see the pilots face, you know he is too close, especially when you do not even get close to the boundary of your legal airspace.Stil lSNA is a nice airport to fly out of.
