Can I preset my favorite freqs on the radio panel?

Featured Replies

I would like to preset my home airport ILS frequencies in the nav1 radio. Is this a fairly simple thing to do? Anyone wish to help me out? Thanks.

What is fairly easy at all? One solution would be to create a flight with your desired aircraft and airport and to save this flight. So the next time you start the simulation, you can select this flight. I'm not sure if the selected radio frequencies are stored in the flight file (name.flt, name = your selected name for this flight). If not, open this file with notepad or similar and look for the [Avionics.0] section. There you can edit the frequencies to whatever you want them to be. These flight files are stores in your default home path in the folder Flight Simulator files (or how ever it is named in your localized FS version).Hope this helps,Herbert

Thanks Herbie for your suggestions. Yes, the saved flight does save the unique frequencies. It looks like the various planes all have the same startup frequencies - probably the fsx designers home airport - somewhere near Redmond, WA probably. I was hoping for something simple to reset them. I'm not quite up to opening cab files and writing xml code just yet - but, that is probably where they are located.Ray

Another solution - based on the same principle:Setup a flight with your radios tuned as you wish - Save that flight AND make it your default flight (put a check mark in the box when you save the flight). That flight will now be presented to you on the Create a Flight screen and those radio settings should be automatically transferred to whatever aircraft you decide to actually fly. Many settings including the state of the engines are "passed on" from whatever the default fight may be, to whatever aircraft you select to fly.

Good idea OPA!. Thanks. I'll try that now.
