November 1, 200916 yr hi,i bought traffic 2005 for fs9 and ai smooth goes as part of the package.i am a bit confused if ai smooth runs by itself as part of traffic 2005 or do i need to run the aismooth.exe and leave it running in the background when i run fs9?also, can anyone recommend the best settings for aismooth for the ai separation and ai landing distances to avoid as many go-arounds as possible?thanks
November 1, 200916 yr AISmooth is freeware. If your version doesn't have instructions, you can always download another copy. It runs separate from FS, but it connects to it. I don't know about FSTraffic 2005, but AISmooth will run with any traffic, add-on or default. Most traffic programs provide proper schedules for flights, which in itself should ease up congestion. AISmooth doesn't care about schedules. What it does is temporarily move aircraft that might come into conflict with you out out of the way. You never see this happen, as AISmooth anticpates the conflicts from beyond visual range. I find the best settings for AISmooth are the default ones. Just let it run and it does all of the rest! It's one of the best freeware apps for flight sim since FSUIPC, in my opinion.Jeff ShylukSenior Staff ReviewerAVSIM
November 2, 200916 yr The last version of aismooth was 1.20 which is both FSX and FS9 compatible. This version includes a manual in the download. You run it in the background while FS is running so it can control AI.This is on flightsim.com:aismv120.zipOn AVSIM it is aismooth_v120.zip and it checks out for downloading. If you use an add-on ATC program turn off the voice and show message settings for ATC. You might wish to increase the aircraft separation on final and finally see whether setting User Plane Response on causes any problems for you.I believe the version with your traffic program was much earlier.
November 2, 200916 yr 1.20 is more recent than my version as well. I've never bothered to check up on that as it's always ran well for me.Jeff ShylukSenior Staff Reviewer AVSIM
