November 22, 200916 yr I need some help please! How do you determine the coordinates for placing Don Kuhn's GNS530 or GNS430 (as well as the 330 and WAAS) on an aircrafts panel? It could take weeks, months or even longer putting random numbers in the panel.cfg file until you hit upon the location on the panel you wanted!I've been able to add the GNS530 to the default C172's main panel, I was wondering if the default FS Garmin 500 or 295 GPS be deleted and it's icon used with the 530 or 430 instead of their own icons (this would be helpful as there isn't a lot of space for the 530/430 specific icons on most panels and it looks like you're limited to only 8 or 9 popup windows anyway!)? If so, how? Thanks for the help!
November 22, 200916 yr It is payware but worth every penny ...........http://www.fspanelstudio.com/Hope that helps. :(
November 23, 200916 yr Author It is payware but worth every penny ...........http://www.fspanelstudio.com/Hope that helps. :(Your suggestion is certainly worth thinking about even though I'm not really looking into getting into panel design. I just want to replace the FS default 500/295 GPS units with Don Kuhn's outstanding GNS530 GPS and link it to the FS default GPS icon in all my FS aircraft. I don't necessarily object paying for the solution, but even $24.95 (as a download from Flight 1's website) seems just a *tad* a bit pricey just to do this one thing. Still, if it can save me untold hours, days, etc. finding the right spot to put the icon for Don's GNS530, it's definitely worth considering! I don't suppose any of the tutorials that come with it deal with my specific problem do they? If FS Panel Studio does have a tutorial for what I want to do I would have to give getting it very serious consideration indeed! Especially if PC Aviator were to offer it for sale at, oh, say, 40% off, I'd probably not be able to order it fast enough (G)!Thanks for the suggestion, David!Scott

Perhaps a study of the manual would provide enough info to decide if it will do what you want to do.A note re: icons - You can add as many icons to any panel as you wish - assuming there is enough room. That is how you get around the Shift plus Number limitation. On a test panel which I use I have 10 or 12 icons which call other pop up windows.Hope that helps.

I could have overlooked it (wouldn't be the first time!)....Using icons to get around the shift+number limit makes sense and would be worth the price of FS Panel Studio. I have a several planes, the 441 Conquest II among others, that use up all the available shift+number combinations right out of the box making adding additional panels or instruments otherwise impossible without use of an icon...I'll advise if the FS Panel Studio is still available for download before purchase...Scott
November 24, 200916 yr Author Hey, David, you were quite correct! The manual is available for download on the Flight 1 website. Better yet, a demo version, with only the Save File and some other unmentioned features disabled! Couldn't ask for more than that!Scott
November 25, 200916 yr Author Hey, David, I took a look at the manual for FS Panel Studio and found that it does indeed have a section on "Adding a Popup GPS to a Panel" section (4.3 on page 91 to be exact)! Guess I'll be getting a copy of FS Panel Studio after all. I'm going to hold off just a bit though to see if PC Aviator runs a "black Friday" sale first (G)!Thanks again for the suggestion!Scott
