Pilot and ATC sounds

Featured Replies

Guys,I need some assistance here.I have problems with the volume of the Pilot and ATC chatter.I have the sliders set with Pilot at maximum, other sounds about 50 - 60 % but I can barely make out the chatter still. In line with that, is there a way to channel just the pilot/ATC through headphones? I have the Creative Fatality USB headset. All advice welcome.CheersRod

As far as I can tell the sounds are all relative to each other - if one sound is too loud or too soft you simply adjust the sliders until you get the right mix. Theoretically you could have the voice slider set at 100% and the engines slider set at 1% if your engines happened to be too loud relative to your voices. The bottom line in your mixing of sounds relative to each other is the volume you set on your speakers. Your speaker volume setting is the one you set the sliders to correspond with.I'm pretty sure you can channel voices through your headphones if you've got a sound card installed. I don't, I use the onboard sound capability, so I don't know exactly how to do this. Someone else may be able to help in this regard.

It's very possible to channel the ATC sound to your USB headset. Just go into the sound settings, and in the middle there is a box called "Windows sound devices". There is a dropdown list named "Voice", just select you USB sound device there. I don't know what your headset device is called in the list, but probably something with USB.If your USB headset is automatically set as the default audio device, you may need to change the other value as well, to another sound card, or change the default audio device in Windows.

If you love unplugging your USB headset and plugging it back in , then by now you should have realised that every time you plug it in windows will make it the defult sound device and you will have to go into control panel, audio devices and correct it, why cant it simply askk if you want to make it the default devic,

I think that Windows saves the setting, at least I usually only have to set my normal device as default once. It might depend on which USB port you plug it into, I've noticed that Windows often have to do that whole search for drivers thing when I plug in a device that has been plugged in before, if I plug it in a different port.
