November 27, 200916 yr I'm hoping that someone can help me troubleshoot a problem I'm having with both the FSX-Default Grumman Goose and now, the recently-installed OZx "HD Redux" Gooses (all paints, all models):The only lights that work properly (on their designated switches) are the instrument lights and the beacon. The strobe, Nav and Taxi light switches do *nothing* and the Landing light switch turns on not only the landing lights but the Nav lights and strobes! There are no Taxi lights on the airplane, despite the presence of a switch for them. There is also no way to turn on Nav and strobe lights for night flights without running the landing lights for the entire flight. In addition, viewing the airplane exterior at night with all lights on, there are ground-illumination "cones" from at least 3 landing/taxi (?) lights: two in the leading edges of the wings and one retractable light under the port wing about mid-span. However, looking back at the airplane from 12 o'clock reveals no actual visible bright lights as one would expect... just dim-glowing areas where the lights should be with the appearance of a black shield in front of the lights, as though someone had taped over them with black duct tape.I installed the OZx "HD Redux" Goose package earlier today because their website says someone put in a lot of work on the "night lighting" but unfortunately, their Goose has the same weird non-correlation of lights to switches and the same taped-over landing light appearance.I am running FSX-Deluxe SP2 (no Acceleration or "Gold") and DX10. I have done Google and other searches on "FSX Goose Lights" and found one post on another forum by someone having the exact same problem, but no answers or suggestions.I would appreciate knowing if anyone else is having the same problem, and/or how I might go about fixing it. Thanks!
December 4, 200916 yr Sounds like someone didn "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
December 4, 200916 yr Moderator The problem is in the model itself. No amount of lipstick will ever make the lighting problems go away...Unfortunately, although ACES was well aware of the lighting problems with all of the FSX models, they simply didn't have time to get them corrected. They were too busy fixing other, much more serious problems. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
