SP1 graphics anomaly fix?

Recommended Posts

Am loving the J41 since SP1 but I miss the icing effects from the VC...I had to disable them due to the bug that was introduced in SP1 that caused graphics problems for some users. Vin Scimone had posted this:"Captains,This is a problem that we ran into during the development of Service Pack 1 that we thought was solved. It appears as if we have run ito is an internal limit built into FSX in regard to the number of parts and animations.Until we find a solution for this, I would advise anyone experiencing this anomoly to open their PMDG J41 Configuration Manager and to select the VC option with no ice. This should remove the anomolies.Once we determine a solution, we will release a small service pack for those of you experiencing this problem. Sorry about the inconvenience.Vin ScimonePrecision Manuals Development Group"Any word re progress on this service pack? Thanks.

I didn't have this issue initially after the patch, but it surfaced after I started downloading AFCAD files, which is weird. What solved it for me was letting FSX build a new FSX.cfg file. It cleaned up a lot of the old entries I had from uninstalled aircraft along with multiple entries for my video card. Anyhow, I haven't had the graphics problem since the new file was created. If you decide to try this, make sure you examine your FSX settings in detail so you can get your setup back to what you had. All the keystrokes, joystick assignments, etc... will have to be reassigned. Curt

Thanks, Curt, and this is easy enough to give it a try...I always keep a backup of the fsx.cfg anyway.Given Vin's posting about a possible service pack, I am still interested in knowing if that's still in the works.

Rebuilding the fsx.cfg file didn't eliminate the problem, unfortunately. So, about that service pack... :(

Same issue here.Specs in signature below.Tested with the 182.50 drivers as well as the "latest and greatest (which are usually not so great)". Also tested using NHancer settings as well as through the Nvidia CP...same issue. Just a heads up. Not sure if it helps the PMDG team though.

Not sure if it is helpful for you guys, but it might be worth trying. I was not getting any graphical anomalies in SP1. I then tried using the ENBseries HDR modification and immediately started to get these sorts of flashing artifacts. Removed it and all is well again.
