Reinstalling on New Computer

Featured Replies

I will be taking delivery of a new, much faster computer (Intel i5 withWindows7-) in a couple of days. I intend to network this to my existing computer(P4 Windows XP) that holds all my normal stuff plus FS9 and many add on programmes.Obviously I will be wanting to run FS9 via the faster comp so my question is am I faced with manually installing FS9 and the many add ons(aircraft, scenery etc.)on the new computer or is there a simpler way, via the network, of transferring these from the existing computer.I have also seen a suggestion that FS9 should not be installed on default drive C in Windows 7 - any comments? Thanks in advance for any help and advice.William

I have just got a new computer with Windows 7. I have followed the advice and created a new volume for my FS9 instalation. This is easy to do with Windows 7I am reinstalling everything fresh and so far no problems. I have backed up my addon scenery/AI aircraft/nav data updates etc so these can be copied over. What addons are you using ?

WilliamI found FE;GE; PMDG 737-800-900 loaded fine. I have heard the WOAI installer doesn't work fully, so you may have to install the files manually. Good luck.

I've read several post on ungrading to Windows 7 and the need for to install FS9 and FSX to a new "volume"? Are we talking about a folder named whatever-like games? If so would it be in the root of C or another string? I'm getting a new computer with Windows 7 and will be reinstalling.
