December 14, 200916 yr This is a variation on the multi monitor discussion. I currently havetwo 20" monitors and wanted to add a 3rd but I can not find a standard20" at either Newegg or Tigerdirect. Everything is widescreen. I canfind a 19 however I would expect issues with aligning the image due tothe different screen sizes.Does anyone have any experience with this that they would like to shareas to how it can be done. Many thanks,Jim
December 14, 200916 yr wait for Alex to come around. I believe he uses mismatched monitors for his 3-monitor set up...he's your guy for these issues. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
December 14, 200916 yr wait for Alex to come around. I believe he uses mismatched monitors for his 3-monitor set up...he's your guy for these issues.Betelgeuse is more of an expert than me- he recently set up multi monitors of significantly different sizes. Perhaps he might chime in here.---------------------------In general, keep the largest monitor as main mon- the smaller monitors used as secondaries.A little zoom on the smaller ones will keep objects same size on both main and secondaries. To figure out correct zoom- Slew-rotate the sim until you have a good sized building/hangar near the side of main mon. Using a piece of paper make light pencil ticks to mark the building width. Then slew a little further to place the building on the adjacent monitor. Now apply zoom so the two images are equal size.Measure these widths close to the monitor edges- amazingly an object in the middle of the screen is NOT the same physical size as when it is close to the side of the monitor! When saving a flight, increase the zoom by one point. When you reload that flight, the zoom amount will be correct.------- My mons are an 18" CRT with 2 17" LCDs either side. The proper zoom for these outers seems to be about 1.03. But sometimes hardly worth worrying about. -------Always keep the monitor side edges touching along the whole edge. If you tilt the main mon, also tilt the secondaries- this will require thin cardboard/wood shims under the bases to keep the edges in contact. It looks a bit odd, because then the outer monitors tilt/twist upward. Never fear- it works! And NEVER allow a View edge to overlap onto an adjacent mon. Big FPS hit!Hope this helps.See also this same forum July 28 2009- for a thread> "Mixing Video Cards" started by Bonanza pilot. December 15, 200916 yr Author Thanks Alex, that makes sense. I'll plan on using a 19"for the right monitor with the other two being the existing20" mons. Thanks again,Jim
