A Huge FPS Increase
When I run mipmap manager on any texture file I get the following error report on each file it touches. The following errors were encountered: AI_Il86fuse.bmp - Processing error (Create extended BMP) I have no idea what this means or why I'm getting it or if its important. Does it mean nothing was done or what? Many thanks, Jim

That is for DXTBMP, not the dll files. Specifically, mwdll.dll I cannot find anywhere. mwgfx.dll I have found from Joe's link. Maybe that dll is no longer needed. --Jim

A Huge FPS Increase
I saw reference to Mipmap manager which directed me to Martin Wright's dll files mwgfx.dll and mwdll.dll which are obtained from http://mnwright.btinternet.co.uk However, that site is a bt yahoo site that requires an account which is not free. So how does one otherwise obtain these files? Thanks, Jim

Autopilot Oscilating
If this happens consistently I usually make a modification to the .air fileusing AirEd. First back up the .air file of course.Open it with AirEd and go to record 1101 Primary AerodynamicsExpand it.Go down to entry Cm_dt Pitch Moment - Trim It will look something like -2.550000Increase it by a small amount to say -2.800000 and see if that solves it.If not increase it a little more. You want the smallest change that solvesthe problem. There are a lot of entries in this section that have similar names, so doublecheck the entry you are changing. Jim

Wing views
I've just installed FSX and gone through the setups and all that are mentioned inthe getting started postings. In FS9 I am familiar with setting up wing views viathe panel.cfg but this is apparently different in FSX. FSX appears to use theaircraft.cfg via CameraDefinition.x entries. I cannot find anything on how one accesses these camera position from withinFSX. I have found info on how to change the entries but not on how to viewthem in FSX. Can someone explain or point me to the relevant tutorial. For the record I have the FSX Gold edition with Acceleration. Thanks,Jim

FS9 and XP64
Thanks for the very informative replies. That clears up a lot. Only thing I'm not sure of is how you drag an .exe into an app? I know how to select one from an an app but have never heard of dragging one. --Jim

FS9 and XP64
I've been contemplating moving to XP64. I don't want Win 7. However, searching throught the postings here I am somewhat confused as to what this would mean. I have 4GB installed and would like to be able to use it all. I currently have XP32 and fully understand the 32 bit limitation of 2GB and think I follow the /3GB switch option which I currently use. If I go to XP64 is there anything I need to do to FS9? I've seen reference to a /4GB switch setting but have not seen the specifics. Is 4GB the limit or can one fully use higher for FS9? I.e. if I add more RAM to say 8GB would that be accessible? Would it require a /8GB switch setting in FS9.exe? If I were to install FSX would I have any of these issues with XP64? Lot of questions I know.--Jim

Good desktop for FS9
Which reads:>>>We have moved the existing FSX Hardware forum out to the MS Flight Simulation Conference level, placing it directly below the FS9 and FSX forums, presumably making it easier to access and readily available.>>>I have no idea what the name of this forum is or where it is. Directly below this forum is the one for the new Flight application from MS.However, much further down the list of forums is a group of 4 relating to Hardware. I don't find the link you quote here particularlyhelpful and it would be nice to know the name of the forum that is being referenced and where it is. --Jim

The new Avsim format
I agree with Jerry completely. What is it with the current design that this new one is supposed to fix? Learning curve aside, I found the new one disorganized and hard to navigate unlike the current one which is very intuitive. Jim

Wilco/FeelThere 737 PIC !!!
So what did the Avsim reviewer say about this product. I notice yesterday they had a review on Hanoi scenery without ever mentioning where you get it. Wonderful. Same with the Nordic 737 video a few weeks back. Jim

A good 707 panel
Helio Estrela has a very nice modern 707 panel. Go to flightsim.com and search for: Helio Estrela 707 Panel is for FS2002 but works fine in FS2004. Be sure to get the fix file (he707v1x.zip) too. Paul Golding also has a nice modern 707 panel for FS2002 that works fine in FS2004. It is also at flightsim.com as file pg7072k2.zip These may also be here on avsim, I haven't checked. --Jim

Dream Fleet 727 - A Couple of Questions
I noticed that there was a mis-identified light and I could not find what light fx_df727_wingl1 did. Correcting the first, removing the second, left room for a center taxi light. This also allows the tail strobe to be activated. I think this gives a better set. Feel free to change the actual lights to your personal preference or if you know which ones the 727 actually used. 727-100[Lights]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing 6=Taxi 7=Recognition 8=Wing 9=Logo 10=Cabinlight.0 = 3, -94.20, -53.50, -1.16, fx_df727_navredh,light.1 = 3, -94.20, 53.50, -1.16, fx_df727_navgreh,light.2 = 1, -45.63, 0.00, 8.30, fx_shockwave_beaconh,light.3 = 3,-101.90, -53.15, -1.25, fx_Shockwave_navwhi_l,light.4 = 3,-101.90, 53.15, -1.25, fx_Shockwave_navwhi_l,light.5 = 1, -67.49, 0.00, -6.20, fx_shockwave_beaconb,light.6 = 2, -95.38, -53.75, -1.12, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2,light.7 = 2, -96.00, -53.75, -1.12, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_3,light.8 = 2, -95.38, 53.75, -1.12, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2,light.9 = 2, -96.00, 53.75, -1.12, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_3,light.10 = 10,-19.50, 0.00, 2.05, fx_shockwave_vclight_l,light.11 = 5, -69.30, 22.35, -2.40, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow_down,light.12 = 5, -69.30, -22.35, -2.40, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow_down,light.13 = 8, -62.40, -6.50, 0.50, fx_df727_wingl2,light.14 = 8, -62.40, 6.50, 0.50, fx_df727_wingl2,light.15 = 5, -57.70, -5.80, -2.30, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow_down,light.16 = 5, -57.70, 5.80, -2.30, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow_down,light.17 = 6, -24.20, 0.00, -7.20, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow,light.18 = 2,-144.40, 0.00, 20.75, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2,//light.17 = 8, -54.70, 6.30, 1.18, fx_df727_wingl1,//light.18 = 8, -54.70, -6.30, 1.18, fx_df727_wingl1, 727-200[Lights]//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing 6=Taxi 7=Recognition 8=Wing 9=Logo 10=Cabinlight.0 = 3, -94.20, -53.50, -1.16, fx_shockwave_navred,light.1 = 3, -94.20, 53.50, -1.16, fx_shockwave_navgre,light.2 = 1, -45.63, 0.00, 8.30, fx_shockwave_beaconh,light.3 = 3,-101.90, -53.15, -1.25, fx_Shockwave_navwhi_l,light.4 = 3,-101.90, 53.15, -1.25, fx_Shockwave_navwhi_l,light.5 = 1, -67.49, 0.00, -6.20, fx_shockwave_beaconb,light.6 = 2, -95.38, -53.75, -1.12, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2,light.7 = 2, -96.00, -53.75, -1.12, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_3,light.8 = 2, -95.38, 53.75, -1.12, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2,light.9 = 2, -96.00, 53.75, -1.12, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_3,light.10 = 10, -9.50, 0.00, 2.05, fx_shockwave_vclight_l,light.11 = 5, -69.70, -22.35, -2.40, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow_down,light.12 = 5, -69.70, 22.35, -2.40, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow_down,light.13 = 8, -62.40, -6.50, 0.50, fx_df727_wingl2,light.14 = 8, -62.40, 6.50, 0.50, fx_df727_wingl2,light.15 = 7, -57.70, -5.80, -2.30, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow_down,light.16 = 5, -57.70, 5.80, -2.30, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow_down,light.17 = 6, -14.20, 0.00, -7.20, fx_Shockwave_landing_light_narrow,light.18 = 2,-154.40, 0.00, 20.75, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2,//light.17 = 8, -54.70, -6.30, 1.18, fx_df727_wingl1,//light.18 = 8, -54.70, 6.30, 1.18, fx_df727_wingl1,--Jim

Dream Fleet 727 - A Couple of Questions
Here are the shockwave settings I use, others may have chosen other specific lights.
