XPlane Blender and Planemaker tutorials

Featured Replies

Danklaue has an excellent video tutorial series on building X-Plane aircraft (including 2d/3d cockpits) using Blender and Planemaker.51 episodes so far and they are a great resource for X-Plane aircraft builders. :( Find the tutorials on Youtube here:http://www.youtube.com/user/danklaueHe's also posted some progress shots for the ERJ-140 he's building here:http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showto...mp;#entry471637edit: I just noticed the tutorial link has been posted in the Aircraft design subforum back in April. In any case he's added a lot of videos since then. Well worth checking out if your interested in building aircraft for X-Plane.

Hi, when the above comment was made, it was right on. Unfortunately, Blender has changed a lot since the tutorials were made. I've been working though the tutorial on making a basic 3D cockpit, and it's been very helpful, but it's a bit of a challenge translating the 2009 version of Blender to the 2015 one.

They are great tutorials, however.

Yep, the old blender plugin and tutorial is not suited anymore for Blender 2.70+, which is far nicer and more powerful to use.

I learned the basics about blender from this amazing free video tutorial set >>http://gryllus.net/Blender/3D.html<<, although it's for the 2.60+ series, most of it is still relevant. It takes you through all the basics like navigation and eventually building simple 3D models. It does skip over the UV texturing which is very important, but there are plenty of other videos on Youtube on how to do it. Even now, after creating hundreds of models in Blender, I'm still learning new stuff and tricks ;-), but I can now build much faster in Blender than I can in Sketchup, so the investment was worth it
