Advanced tutorial

Well, I've tried "6 ways to Sunday" to get this tutorial to work properly but so far to no avail. Here's what happens. I've downloaded all the data and had no problems. Placed all of the elements in the areas as per the readme (I do have the updated version for FS X).Started Simulator, selected an A.A. MD 11 and loaded program. Started load manager as per manual, again no problems so far. Since I have the Dream Team KORD I loaded the Advanced Tutorial FSDT as per manual. Here's where problems begin. The aircraft loaded was not an A.A. model but neutral MD 11. Additionally only a VC panel was showing which was of a version I'd never seen. Not a wide screen, which I've had no problems with before this. 2D panel couldn't show. I decided to activate an A.A. aircraft from the master list. Although the wide panel appeared on this model, the 2D panel was black. VC was there but no switches on various sub panels worked. I reloaded everything 3 times but the result was always the same.I'm stumped. I'm reasonably sure that I've put all the elements in the proper spot so I don't know where to go to fix the problem.FYI - Dell Dimension 9100, XP SP3, FS X, SP 2, 3.5G memory.I'd appreciate any thoughts for a solution. Normally, all of my PMDG programs work just fine with no scenery problems etc.Jack Fentress

Well now, let's hold on a bit. I kept trying different solutions and I think I've found one. I loaded the flight plan 1st and then after everything settled down, loaded the panel state. That seemed to have worked. I have my widescreen 2D panel and all switches on sub panels seem to work ok. An A.A. aircraft did not load, just the neutral model. I'll use that for the moment. It seems that, at least on my system, the order in which flight plans and panel states are loaded makes a big difference.Jack

Actually I used the one livery that EVERYONE has... the PMDG livery. It is not practical to require everyone to download and install the AAL livery first before using my tutorial. I'm sorry, I would have loved to use AAL, believe me...Markus
Markus........Not really a problem, just a visual thing. After solving my difficulties, I've gotten to the point of taxing when I had to stop for cocktail time and supper. This tutorial is really wonderful. Even though lengthier than any I've seen (except the PMDG 747 groupings) it really has made me aware of how little I really knew about the MD 11 from the earlier tutorial and flights on my own. Not that there was anything wrong with the 1st tutorial, just not as deep into the operations of the aircraft. You've done a terrific job and I suspect many hours out of your private life to make this. Thanks a bunch. I hope everyone appreciates what a difficult job this really was.Jack

There's an easy way to change the default aircraft for the tutorial flight. Open up the saved FLT file for the tutorial, find the line "Aircraft=PMDG MD-11 GE CF6-80C2D1F Engines" and, if you've downloaded and installed the American Airlines livery, change this line to "Aircraft=PMDG MD-11 American Airlines", and save. Then when you start FS9/FSX and load the tutorial flight, you'll have the American Airlines variant sat at gate. You can change the aircraft to any livery that you have installed, just get the aircraft name from the title= line in the aircraft.cfg file.
