FSX in FullHD 16:9 resolution

Featured Replies

Well, using the widescreen option helps, but the technical answer is no, there is no way to keep the 2D graphics from stretching. The 3D graphics will be fine (which is one reason why MS decided to drop 2D panel support for the most part ).
Is this your opinion or a fact?
I'm curious too because it's not true at all :(

WideViewAspect=True only affects the 3D graphics in FSX - it allows you to see proportionally more to the sides vs. using a 4:3 resolution. (this is called "hor+" widescreen support in gaming lingo) You can't make a 4:3 2D bitmap fill a widescreen resolution without stretching and distorting because 2D panels are static, they're not being drawn by the engine in 3D with a virtual "camera" viewing them the way that VCs and the rest of the sim are. The only solution is to actually make bitmaps that are designed for widescreen resolutions and fit correctly by default. Most addon companies do this now, but older addons from before widescreen monitors really took off and became the standard are going to have stretching, there's nothing you can do about that short of running a 4:3 resolution and having black bars on the sides of the monitor or manually dragging the panels back. (which is going to leave scenery showing through on the sides)
