December 18, 200916 yr The new HUd that is an improvement of Scott Printz is giving me problems. I can't figure out how to extract the FA18_HUD_SWITCHES.zip file into the Program Files>Microsoft Flight SimulatorX> Airplanes> F-18> panelWhen i try to extract them it says WINRAR Diagnostic message Can't open or create BTTNMID1.BMP (TO THE FILE i SPECIFIED ABOVE.)What am i doing wrong?it's this HUD I'm talking about http://www.simviation.com/simviation/?ID=6...4&mark=7181 if you care to know.
December 18, 200916 yr Moderator Are you sure that's a "zip" file? It sounds more like a .CAB file, in which case you do NOT "unzip" it! Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 24, 200916 yr Moderator Hi Bill, why not unzip the CAB file ? Where is the problem ?DietmarBecause you'll wind up with all the "parts of the file" scattered in your ..\Gauges or ..\Panel folder, and the "gauges" won't work!Understand that the "gauge name" is either the name of the xxx.cab file, -OR- the name of a ..\folder in which all the "parts of the file" are stored...IF you "unCAB" the file, then at least extract the contents to a new folder named the same as the gauge...For example, MyGauge.cab should wind up in a folder named ..\MyGaugeEvery xxx.CAB file has at least one yyy.xml file and (usually) one zzz.bmp file. You can imagine the mess you'd have if you incorrectly unCAB a file that contains 20 yyy.xml files and 353 zzz.bmp files! :( :( Fr.
