RNAV is the capability to fly directly between any two points on the globe, as opposed to flying from radio beacon to radio beacon (usually a less direct path). Examples of RNAV systems are inertial navigation systems and GPS.RNAV procedures (e.g. SIDs and STARs) are for RNAV-equipped aircraft.
