I've looked at this, and even installed it for both FS9 and FSX. I've not found anything "different" between the FSX database and this "update." There are however significant differences between the FS9 database and this "update." :(
Q Will the GPS SID/STARS work.A No. Although the are not changed they are not current since the default data base was not current. You can however use the DIRECT TO function from waypoint to waypoint.
Do note also that this does not update any of the navaids or change any frequencies in use, nor are any ICAO codes changed.

I for one appreicate what some developers try and accomplish but these type bgl's do not update the GPS/MAP mode but only cause additional problems and CTD in the Flightplan mode. There are 2 types of Waypoints out of many that FS elected to use from the ARINC 424 standard document.Enroute WaypointTerminal WaypointEnroute Waypoints are seen in the GPS/MAP modes as Magenta in color. They cannot be moved which causes duplication. FS does this intentionally so the route database knows which Enroute Waypoint is used to connect the Victor/Jet Airways to. Enroute Waypoints in FS are owned by the world database which means they are added to a bgl similar to this type bgl. In order for FS to see these 3rd party Enroute Waypoints and use them for Enroute data, SID/STAR's Transition entrance points off the STAR they must be placed into a preload condition such as the Scenery\World\Scenery folder. Any precision approach such as the ILS cannot process the Entance of the Transition if the Enroute Waypoint bgl is nesting above the default FS bgl's in all the default Navaid folders.Terminal Waypoints play a different role in FS. T_Waypoints are blue in color as seen in the GPS/MAP modes. These T_Waypoints can be moved within the airports 108 NM radius. If they are duplicated the compiler will fail with errors. T_Waypoints are not owned by the world data base in FS but must nest in the airport record that they belong to. The airac318809d.bgl list many of the existing Terminal_Waypoints in both FS9 and FSX. Because these default FS T_Waypoints are already nesting in all the individual airport records the airac318809d.bgl duplicates these T_waypoints and list them as Waypoints on the GPS/MAP mode. That causes many of the existing T_Waypoints to duplicate as a enroute waypoint and make a cluttered mess out of the GPS/MAP visual modes. Many of the Enroute Waypoints have also been duplicated in both FS9 and FSX and that can cause a CTD if you open the Flight Plan mode. The Flight Plan mode cannot construct the proper line draw for the victor/jet routes for certain flights between airports if it see's 2 identical Enroute Waypoints positioned at slightly different Lat/Lon's and this causes FS to close. The FS Navaid data is coded on several standards such as the Jeppesen Charts and the ARINC 424 world standard. FS is not built on the AIRAC European navdata system and if forced into FS can cause additonal problems un-related to enroute data such as we see in the GPS receiver, Flightplanner and the ATC engine. There is only one utility available that will add the Enroute Waypoint (world owned) and Terminal Waypoint (airport owned) to the proper bgl's that FS is coded on. That utility is the Airport Design Editor (ADE9X). Although ADE9X will add the T_Waypoint to each individual airport record it does not as of yet add the Enroute Waypoint directly through the Approach Mode utility. However we do give proper instructions in our forum on adding the Enroute Waypoint and compiling the XML to a bgl with proper file placement.jim

Hi Jim,I added data for several hundred smaller Australian airfields from this site Fig Air Multiplayer. Does this modification do the damage to the GPS indicated? Where can default files be found that would reverse what you described happening here (besides FSX DVD)? Is there a link to modifications that you do recommend? Thank you,Stephen

I also installed the bgl's from the link you posted: I didn't and don't have any problems with them and they don't do any damage to the GPS indicated. If you want to 'reverse' the situation, simply delete the files from the directory you had to place them in (Addon scenery > Scenery): there are no default files because these files are new and they are added to FSX wthout replacing anything.

Thanks Jersen,That is what I thought. Glad to have someone reassure me. I will keep them as I seem to live in the air above Australia most of the time, although I breathe it in Canada. Thanks.Stephen

StephenThat type file does not do anything to clutter the GPS with any type duplicate data. The developer for those outback airports only listed the ICAO code so the user did not have any type GPS reference to the airport. This makes finding the airports more of a challenge. jim
