January 18, 201016 yr How do I determine the proper mixture settings now that I am not using auto/mixture.It seems if I play with them I get a better sounding engine at certain settings. Is this what I listen for? Thanks,Ron Bring back Chief Illiniwek!University of Illinois.
January 18, 201016 yr Moderator Depends - if your leaning for best economy or power. For economy, if your a/c has an EGT ( Exhaust Gas Temp) gauge - lean until it peaks. If not, listen to the engine and lean until it starts to get rough and then increase until it just smooths out. For power, if you have an EGT, lean to peak temp and then slightly enrich so the temp goes up about 100C. Or listen to the engine, get max sound and highest airspeed together. ALways make slow changes and wait a bit for them to take hold. These are generalizations - each a/c has specific settings and if you know them you should use them.Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
