FS hangs when selecting flight plan

Featured Replies

Hope someone can help with this.Fairly frequently FS now hangs when I go to select the FS flight plan. There seems to be nothing short of shutting down & restarting FS that works. I use FSNav to complie & then export to FS so I re-installed FSNav, but that hasn't really helped.Anyone have any suggestions, ideas or a solution?ThanksBrian

Hi Brian,Is this world-wide or just in certain areas? I have only experienced the latter and found it usually caused by rogue add-on sceneries although not always ones local to the area concerned. Either way, you might want to try temporarily disabling any sceneries installed about the time this problem arose - and maybe isolate the offending file.John

I think this can happen when you have a large number of add-on sceneries in your scenery.cfg file. I remember reading about this some years ago, and I have certainly experienced FS9 hanging after selecting a flightplan if I have over about 500 scenery entries.

Thanks to both of you for your replies.I've had the problem for ages, on an off, but usually only occasionally so I have just lived with it. Fairly recently it started happening more frequently. This could be due to the 500 figure mentioned here, as I just noticed that I've just passed that, but I'll definitely try the suggestion to disable the more recent ones. Thanks againregardsBrian
