July 26, 200322 yr I have the original Microsoft Sidewinder Force-Feedback Pro joystick that worked flawlessly since I purchased four years ago. I was reading on Andrew Herd's FAQ in the "other flightsim" site that this joystick will NOT work with COF under Windows XP.Has any of ya'll who already have the sim already had any problems using this joystick? I'd hate to throw away a perfectly good joystick simply because it won' work with COF under Win XP.Thanks and hopefully I'll find a copy of COF in one of the area Office Depots around here, if not.....Tuesday can't get here fast enough!!John in Auburn, Ga

July 26, 200322 yr Hi John,I'm afraid your fears are well founded. Microsoft, bless their little hearts, have not updated the drivers for this stick to run under XP and, as far as I am aware, have no intention of doing so.A couple of friends of mine ran into this particular problem - one resolved it by accepting my FFB2 joystick on permanent loan (it was gathering dust in my house) and the other is now the owner of my old but still functioning :) CH Products Virtual Pilot Pro Yoke and Pro Pedals running from his SB Soundcards's gameport. Both seem happy.Mike :-wave
July 26, 200322 yr This is very disturbing!!!! I have the Sidewinder FF2 joystick and just found out about M$ not supporting it any longer. I have no desire to "purchase" a new stick, this is crap! The only reasons I don't get a yoke are the ones I have tried have no FF and I fly helis 80% of the time. If I do decide to get a new joystick, can anyone recommend one with FF?? July 26, 200322 yr I have that joystick. Have NEVER had a problem in 2002, and it works great in 2004. I'm running XP with all available updates. Didn't even have to reinstall the joystick after installation of FS2004.
