January 28, 201016 yr When installing addon scenery you can set the priority of the addon in the scenery library. How does this affect things in fsx. Surely if this is a performance related thing then there will be a detriment to some areas.I'm thinking if I fly from say heathrow and set that to priority 1 then fly to another destination and set that to 2, won't this then be second best to the heathrow scenery I'm now not in need of as I have flown from it.Can someone explain this? Thanks Tom Tom Why not read some useful tips and tricks - http://forum.avsim.n...22#entry1965722
January 28, 201016 yr The priority of the sceneries is just so that FSX can decide what scenery to load. If you have more than one scenery for one area, FSX will load the one that is highest (lowest priority number) in the list in the scenery library. I believe the only type of scenery that does not follow this routine is mesh scenery, where FSX chooses the one with the highest resolution, and in the case you have several mesh sceneries with the same resolution, maybe it looks at the priority in the scenery library? January 29, 201016 yr Go to the Tutorial section of the forums here, and read the whole thread linked below:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?autocom...&article=20It contains numerous questions and answers, and several tutorials I wrote about the how and why of using the Scenery Library correctly. It's over a year old, but the info in it is still valid (note the tutorials were written at the time for a user with WinXP...the location of SOME FSX files may be different if you are using Vista or Win7 now...like the "scenery.cfg" and "FSX.cfg" files FSX uses). If you set up your Scenery Library correctly, there is no need to have to move anything around in it priority-wise once you establish the initial priority order. You may want or need to "activate" or "deactivate" some of your scenery in the Scenery Library once in a while, but that would be it.FalconAF Rick Ryan
