July 28, 200322 yr Hi Folks,In preparation for installing FS2004 I installed DirectX 9.0b which I had downloaded from Microsoft's site.It installed without any problem. I then started FS2002 (yes 2) and on the Create A Flight screen I selected the Valmet L-70 Vinka aircraft which I've used many times (50 or more with no problems) and my computer locked up. I had to reboot and try again selecting the Vinka - same thing happened. After rebooting another time I was able to select a default aircraft without any problem. Then I chose to start the flight (with a default aircraft) and FS2002 worked well. Then while flying, I selected the Valmet L-70 Vinka again and this time it worked with no problem at all. Great airplane with a fantastic VC, by the way. Since the problem happened immediately after I installed DirectX 9.0b it seems to me that's where the problem lies. I've never had a similar problem before in my long and happy association with FS2002.I remember reading some posts about a problem in FS2004 with some addon aircraft not being recognized when you try to select them. Perhaps the problem is related to DirectX 9.0b rather than FS2004?Just a thought........Howard - Dell PIII, 1 gig, 512 mb ram, Asylum GeForce 4 Ti4200 64 mb, Nvidia 44.03 downloaded from Nvidia, Win Me
July 29, 200322 yr Author If you need to roll back to a prior DX version you can use the nifty utility called DirectEradicator.zip. I was able to role back 9.0b to 7.0 on a Win2K Pro SP3 install.
