737-NGX Question

Featured Replies

I thought it was a very good review, because to be honest Ariane as a company just confuses me, the fact they offer each varient as a different product, they talk about their features in very vague bullet points, and they offer little to no information on liveries and what their "expansion packs" include. And the price just seems so very high.I appreciated the review very much, and it certainly did help me make my decision on the matter.
Yup, as you've discovered, Ariane do themselves no favours with their confusing product line and poorly-worded copy on their website. Nor is their product activation process the best (coincidentally, I've tried to reinstall that 737-900NG I used in that review when I reinstalled FSX the other day, and I've still not had an activation email back from Ariane, and that request was sent three days ago, by comparison, I sent an email to activate the Dbs Profile Radar which I also reinstalled, and I had a reply back in less than 20 minutes). Ariane's NG is pricey too, and we still await their Nav data upgrade. All these things and more are very offputting to potential buyers of Ariane products, and even more annoying as they could so easily be different. On the plus side, the Ariane 737 is currently the best NG you can get for FSX and it gets stunning frame rates too, but you pay through the nose for that privilege. I do like it (obviously, since I was trying to reinstall it), and I like their FS9 NG too, but I'd like them more if Ariane would change their approach a bit, and one suspects they may have to when PMDG get their NG out the door.Al

The reason the review is 'bizarrely long' as Ben puts it, is because at the time of writing there was a huge forum thread (one of the longest AVSIM has ever had), speculating on the relative merits of Ariane Design as a company and their various 737s. [...]The review was specifically intended to help people with that potential purchasing dilemma, so I went out of my way to address all the questions people had about the thing, and if answering people's questions when writing a review is 'bizarre', then I hope I remain bizarre every time I write a review and would also hope all reviewers would strive to do the same.Anyway, hope it helps you decide.Al
Not sure if I offended you by saying "bizarly long", but I didn't mean it as a bad thing. I meant that it's so long that it's out of the ordinary, without specific reference if this is good or bad. If you ask me, such a long review is warranted for the Ariane plane precisely of the reasons you mentioned. Anyway, if I offended you, then I'm sorry, I didn't mean to.

Oh no worries, I'm far too old and jaded to be offended by anything these days LOL, I was merely pointing out for the benefit of anyone who was not around at the time of that big Ariane discussion, why I felt the Ariane review for Avsim should be as lengthy as it ended up being. It was especially relevant at the time because there was no known timetable for when PMDG's new NG was going to arrive. Now of course we know that the PMDG NG is mere months away, so the decision on the Ariane NG is something that definitely has a 'sell by date' on it in my opinion unless one is a completist or especially worried about good frame rates, since that is something the Ariane 737 is truly excellent on.Frankly, I hope the advent of the FSX PMDG 737NG provides a spur to Ariane to get an even better one out, as there is nothing I like more than having a range of choices when it comes to FS airliners, and, like a lot of people, I usually end up buying all of them anyway, just out of curiosity! There is nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition where similar products are concerned, as it usually means the consumer ends up being the winner.Al

Speaking of the Ariane 737, has anyone here flown it? I was looking at their website and I was all sorts of confused. And it seems crazy expensive for what it is offering.
I have. I have all there versions except 900X2, for FSX. Great jet. Even can turn off pass. cabin lights. Customer service sucks though
