I have no idea what it means and how to get rid of it again, but the AP would not engage.Any ideas anybody??The GWS should be CWS, CWS stands for Control Wheel Steering. The "R" stands for ROLL and the "P" stands for PITCH. The CWS mode is a Power steering mode by using force on the Control wheel for the ROLL mode and Control Collumn for the PITCH, To apply this force you can use the A/P actuators that controls the Ailerons (ROLL) and the elevators (PITCH) for steering. In the CMD mode the A/P it self controls the A/P actuators in the CWS mode the Pilot controls the A/P actuators. In your case I think you are using your Control Column and Wheel to keep the A/C on track, Before you engage the A/P to the VNAV mode or other mode's keep the control column and wheel in neutral. Or you pushed the CWS button (middle) on the MCP instead of the CMD button (upper). Hope this help's Mark.
