March 10, 201016 yr You need to run a memory diagnostic such as MemTest. You'll need to try different DIMM configurations to see if the problem is with a DIMM slot or a DIMM. Try one stick of RAM in the last slot first. If MemTest passes, start adding sticks back in one at a time until it no longer passes. Then when it fails, take out the stick that you last added and replace it with a stick that has already passed. This will tell you if you have a bad stick or a bad slot. Alternatively you can take the stick that failed and put it in a different slot, while removing all other sticks.

March 10, 201016 yr Since DDR3 and DDR2 are not interchangeable, and no one makes 1600MHz DDR2, his board must support DDR3.
March 10, 201016 yr Gigabyte website only lists DDR2 under memoryhttp://www.gigabyte.us/Products/Motherboar...-UD3P#anchor_os
March 10, 201016 yr DDR3 and DDR2 are not interchangeable. Whatever the OP's motherboard is, it can run DDR3.
