March 10, 201016 yr After months of tweaking and reinstalling I've finally got fsx running at top performance. I've solved all major problems but one. The nvidia driver failure and recovery error.More often than not this error complettly locks FSX and i have to ctl-alt-delete to get out of it. Has anyone been able to find a fix for this? It's really frustrating to come to the end of a 7hr flight and have my graphics go into a total meltdown on approach. I have a collection of older nvidia drivers back to 186.18, would an older driver work better? Thanks,AlexMy Specs:Mainboard-EVGA x58 3x SLIGraphics-GeForce GTX 285 OCFUCPU-Intel i7 950 3.07ghz (oc-4.0ghz)MEM-OCZ DDR3(6GB)OS-Windows 7 Pro x64FS-FSX SP2Activesky AdvanceMegascenery EarthUltimate Terrain X EuropeMytraffic X LiteRadar Contact 4.3

I do suggest though that you do a complete uninstall of your present suite..and then reboot the system. Only then, apply the 196.21's. You might have two different suites with their legacy left-overs in your system folder. If you have a registry cleaner program, it would be a good idea to fire that up BEFORE you install a new driver set.The above might solve your chronic problem.Mitch
March 10, 201016 yr Author I'm also running 196.21 and uninstalled the old driver, restarted, deleted all nvidia folders, disabled win 7 auto driver installer and installed the new one. Odd thing I only get the error when running FSX.When performing any other functions my system runs perfect.Alex
March 10, 201016 yr ... I've solved all major problems but one. The nvidia driver failure and recovery error....In my case, I found that this particular problem had to do with the card overheating. Try using the fan control settings from the Nvidia control panel. Start by setting the fan to run at 100% all the time and see if this makes a difference. If so, then you know you're onto the right track and you can start fine tuning the settings so that the fan isn't making such a loud noise all the time.Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor.
