March 12, 201016 yr I just downloaded and installed REX. However, I seem to be having trouble getting it to start properly. The configuration manager opens soon after downloading and instructs me to backup some files from a pull down menu. However there is nothing in the menu. There's a create button, which I push and that changes the "not complete" note to "Completed". I then click the Save button; however, it won't save - perhaps because the backup box is empty. I don't know how to get the program to recognize a path to place the backup file. After finally gigving up and just closing the window, I opened MSX which opened the REX prompt; however, that's having trouble opening as it keeps stopping and restarting after 4% loading each time. very frustrating. I have OS vista. Thanks for your advice in advance. My specs are Windows 7 64-bit, SP1, FSX Acceleration, Intel i5 2410 processor @ 2.3 GHz, 8GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 6490M, Mobile Intel HD Graphics, Add Ons: PMDG 747-400, UTX North America, UTX Europe, My Traffic X, FS2Crew PMDG 747, FSPassengers

March 12, 201016 yr cejones,Just to make sure -- did you do the first two steps on the left-hand side which are to point REX both to your FSX.cfg location, and to your FSX folder? both of those boxes should say "Completed!" as well, before doing the backup step. Then you need to make your overall config choices, hit the Save button on the far bottom right, then check to see if the backup box has an entry in it yet. The drop-down should have an entry that says "Initial_Backup". good luck. P.S. one thing I'm wondering is why REX absolutely insists you save your config every time you change tabs, even when you make no changes! i7-920 @ 3.2ghz | 6GB OCZ DDR3 @ 1600 mhz | GTX 580 1.5 GB | 1TB WD; 750GB WD | X-Fi Audio | 24" Dell LCD | X52 Flight Controller | REX-GEX-UTX-FTX

So we forced this in REX 2 and it has cut down issues tremendously. It is an extra step for the user, but it saves frustration in other ways.If you have support items with REX please post on our support forum so that we are sure to see them. I still don't understand why simply *looking* at a tab forces a necessary save. I've never seen anything like that in my entire PC-using life :) I honestly thought it was a bug.If you have support items with REX please post on our support forum so that we are sure to see them.I did, and didn't receive a response. i7-920 @ 3.2ghz | 6GB OCZ DDR3 @ 1600 mhz | GTX 580 1.5 GB | 1TB WD; 750GB WD | X-Fi Audio | 24" Dell LCD | X52 Flight Controller | REX-GEX-UTX-FTX

What do you mean by then I need to make my overall config choices? Is that a separate step? There is nothing in the back up box drop down. When I try to hit save, it says I need to select a backup file. From what you described in your first post, it sounds like you're bugged. i7-920 @ 3.2ghz | 6GB OCZ DDR3 @ 1600 mhz | GTX 580 1.5 GB | 1TB WD; 750GB WD | X-Fi Audio | 24" Dell LCD | X52 Flight Controller | REX-GEX-UTX-FTX
