March 15, 201016 yr Will it make a difference to change CPU's frm a Q 9300 @2.5Mhz to a Q 9550 @ 2.85Mhz?Is it worth while?
March 15, 201016 yr Not really. Have you tried overclocking? That will give you the same effect. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
March 15, 201016 yr The 9x50 series has twice the L2 cache as the 9x00 series, so aside from the ~10% bump in clockspeed you would get another speed bump from the cache increase. Depending on how much you can buy the chip for, it may be worth doing. Especially if you can't or won't overclock.

That is what I have the Target set for, believing that my eyes can't see anything faster anyway????????I too noticed the increase in cache.
March 16, 201016 yr The Q9550 is a great chip, and there is no need for you to be wary of overclocking it. It truely is easy and safe if you have a good cooler and follow simple step by step instructions. I get excellent performance with that same chip. However tomorrow is its last day with me as my new computer should arrive on Wednesday.Stephen
