Strange Tachometer Problem

Featured Replies

I have a panel I am working on for a two engine plane like the Beech Baron. I am using the Beech_Baron!Left RPM Indicator and the Beech_Baron!Right RPM Indicator. The right tachometer works fine (both the pointer and the tooltip RPM value) but the left pointer does not move (stays at 0) although the tooltip indicates the correct RPM. I have the exact same gauges in my Beech Baron and both gauges work fine. I looked at the engine section of my aircraft.cfg and it looks exactly like the Beech Baron aircraft.cfg. I checked that the left gauge did not have any negative locations on the panel. What can be wrong? Thanks, regards, Bob.

Update: I have even tried adding the KingAir Left RPM gauge. It does the same thing except it does not have the RPM value in the tooltip as the BeechBaron gauge does. Is there some entry in the air or cfg files that prevent the left rpm gauge from functioning? I am stumped!!!!!!! Regards, Bob.

Hi Jan. Thanks. There is no entry like 311 in my air file and there is no entry like 311 in the Beech Baron or the King Air. I did a search for "number", and "engines" and did not find any lines with number of engines in any of my air files in FSX for 2 engine planes. Any suggestions? Regards, Bob.

Hi,FS9 only...You can try to copy record 311 from an other plane's airfile into yours.Jan

Hi Jan. Thanks. I tried that and FSX crashes when I try loading the plane with the 311 record in the air file. That's strange because I lifted it from a plane that works in FSX with the 311 entry in it's air file. Best regards, Bob.

Update: The Beech Baron needle responds to the Prop 1 RPM and the tooltip reports Eng 1 Prop RPM. The tooltip worked but the needle did not respond. I made a new gauge with the needle responding to General eng rpm and all works well. I still don't know why the Beech Baron gauge did not work in this plane. It does in the Beech Baron. I tried changing the air file and the aircraft.cfg file but it did not help with the left rpm gauge. If anyone can shed any light on this I'd sure appreciate it. Regards, Bob.
