What's this frame limiter thing?

Featured Replies

I keep reading about this frame limiter - what's that all about - you go to display and lock your frames at what ever you want- unlimited-- 30 - 40 or what ever you like isn't that good enough - cause i'm lost on this one :( . Louis

There are a lot of threads covering it in detail - search them out.But essentially, it's a program that controls the frames OUTSIDE of FS and makes the whole operation smoother - in some cases - others not so good.Vic

Basically the built-in FPS limiter is crap and by using anything but "unlimited" it will likely steal quite a few FPS for you unless you have good marginals. Say you're at 30 FPS with "unlimited". Then set the limit to 30 and you'll likely get 20-25 or something. On some setups this is not noticeable so if it works good enough for you there's no need to use external FPS limiting.
