March 28, 201016 yr HiThere's an issue that happened to me a few times: When I am in cruise sometimes the ATC tells me that "i'm not showing up on radar" or something, and orders me to "fly heading XXX until suitable for navigation. Proceed direct when able", and doesn't stop ordering until I turn. The problem is: that heading puts me off-courseWhy does ATC tell that? And what should I do? March 28, 201016 yr I have had this a few times before, and I find that it is because RC didnt catch that I passed a waypoint earlier in the flight, and therefor trying to vector me back to the missed waypoint. The way to fix this is to keep flying onroute, and request "Direct To" the currrent waypoint you are tracking. Then all should be well. March 28, 201016 yr FYI:If you miss acknowledging an ATC command and RC is awaiting an ack as you cross a waypoint you will likely not get credit for that waypoint.
May 11, 201016 yr FYI:If you miss acknowledging an ATC command and RC is awaiting an ack as you cross a waypoint you will likely not get credit for that waypoint.I confirm this, I was away from flightdeck while 1st officer had controls, but he didn't respond to atc and turned aircraft opposite direction. Now I've setup auto respond and no problems no more
