March 28, 201016 yr Hi all,my mate has challenged me into building him a gaming rig for FSX, COD, BC2 etc. I have priced some components and for his budget I came up with this:i7 930 to be OC'd6GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair Dominator GT C7 With Airflow fanAsus P6T moboCoolermaster HAF 932 CaseSapphire HD5870 1GBLG 23" HD widescreen monitorSony 24x DVD disk driveWestern Digital Caviar Black 7200 RPM 640GB HDWin 7 Pro 64bitcoolermaster V10 200W CPU coolerCorsair TX-850 PSUHe wants to run all his games at max settings and at 1920x1080 res. What are your views on this system? Are there any issues? What speed could the i7 930 be OC'd to with this cooler? What is the performance in his games likely to be?Thanks guys,Chris
March 28, 201016 yr An issue would be running FSX to the max, I highly doubt it will be possible. But a good solid frame rate at high settings seem to be within reach. To maximize FSX performance I "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
March 28, 201016 yr Ok.The HD's can be fixed and the FSX settings at high is also acceptable. My main concern is the OC with that cooler, the ram compatibility with mobo and CPU. Thanks
March 28, 201016 yr After reading the reviews for the v10, it looks like I have to get the corsair dominator without the fan, as the v10 stick way over and cools the ram also and there won't be enough room. Also read that it fits fin in the CM HAF 932 with plenty of space left over. Looks like i'm happy with the above. One final question: is the dominator ram compatible with the p6t mobo. Remember it's not the deluxe or anything!
March 28, 201016 yr Don't bother with the V10. The TEC never really comes into play. Go with a Corsair H50 or a Thermalright Venomous X. I use one of each for 4GHz OCs of an E8400 and a Q9550, respectively.
March 28, 201016 yr For such specifics about compatibility you may benefit from this forum http://vip.asus.com/forum/topic.aspx?board...SLanguage=en-us . I "I´ll rather be down here wishing I was up there than be up there wishing I was down here"
March 29, 201016 yr Unfortunately, I only have the option of the CM V8 or V10 for 1366 socket as my local store here in Australia only stocks mostly 775 socket coolers and aren't good for OCing. It's my only option. I will take a look at those forums for comparibility. Thanks guys.My mate is gonna be verry happy!
