Fly II install problem winxp

Featured Replies

I am trying to install fly 2 on my winxp and at abouit 31% of the install it is on file coast.pod and the install aborts. Any ideas?

Hi:The only thing that comes to mind is, you may have a damaged CD.or else your PC is running other programs and somehow meets its memory capabilities at that stage. try powering down some of the programs that comes on at startup and are not essential for the PC to run and re-try the setup procedureHope it helpsDan

I am curious to know how others are getting Fly! installed on WinXP. I get absolutely no response to the setup file and the install never starts.Keith

Hello Keith, I don't know why or if it should make a difference, but I was attempting to use an old legacy type program with WinXP Service Pack 3 and had difficulty with the old program, it was not Fly!II though, so I reverted to Service pack 2 and it worked fine. I have no idea if this would affect Fly!II, but I have installed Fly!II many times on XP sp2 with never a problem... on several Intel chip computers. I do turn the sound off before doing an install.Good luck, Brian.

Brian's comment about turning off the sound is a good idea. Also, I would mention that Service Pack 3 did cause an issue with my installed Fly!II (began to run like it was slogging through mud, so it may have been an issue with my video card). Regardless, I dumped Service Pack 3 (reverting to SP2) and everything has been running well.Since you are the owner of Fly!II, you may want to order the Fly!II DVD from ROTW. If your original disk is damaged, the "new" disk should allow you to install with all patches in place.
