MD11 Takeoff

Featured Replies

Rather than waste a takeoff and crash I thought I ask a question first. When I advance the throtle on the joystick at around 80.0% N1 T O CLAMP changes to T O THRUST and a audible click is heard. At that time can I retard the joystck throttle to idle and assume the plane has taken control of the thrust? On Boeing planes I click on TO/GA and EPR in the 752 and 763 and the screw and THRST in the 744.Thank youMichael Cubine

Hi Michael, With the queen you can set your throttles to idle after setting the AT as you mentioned (at least I remember you can, but has been a while). In the MD-11 the noise you hear is probably the throttle clamp, but if you decide to set your throttles to idle while on the runway and after AT has taken control the aircraft will think you're aborting take off and start rejected takeoff throttle down and braking etc... I've only had a couple rejected takeoffs and that's how it looked to me.

Thanks. I don't think I"ll try it after all. Could be a real mess.ThanksMichael Cubine
