April 6, 201016 yr Well, I have no issues on Win7 64-bit other than my new laptop's screen resolution of 1366x768... :( The computer UAC is a bugger to get used to. But FlyII runs fine for meCheers,Ken Happy Easter,Has anyone installed Fly2 on Win 7 64 bit?If so, how does it run? Thanks. ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster

April 8, 201016 yr I average 50-65fps with this ATI mobility 4650 card. And that is with three layers of clouds, TerraScene scenery and TerraModels of KFTY. I do notice drops when I throw in say, some FS-IMP added scenery - it tends to drop to 10-15 fps (this was for KEWR) - but even with the B757 - I find fps to be more than acceptable. Main thing was the upgraded video card. :( The drop is short lived, as once out of the scenery display, the fps jumps right back up on my system.Win7 still offers the Compatibility Mode options - though I do not find it to make much of a difference. Hope this helps! Ken,What frame rates do you get with Fly2?Ian ___________________________ Kenneth E Wood Jr 🌪️🌩️ ex AG1, USN (14yr Vet) Weather Foecaster

What advantages do the new Intel i series have over their older dual processors? Thanks,Ian
April 11, 201016 yr Chris,Which video card do you have and does it matter which Direct X one has (10 or 11)?Thanks,IanHi Ian,I am using ati 4850 and it's direct x 10 compatible.

What advantages do the new Intel i series have over their older dual processors? Thanks,IanHi Ian... Though I basically moved over to FSX (one of the reasons for getting the new laptop), I was curious to see what would happen. So I loaded up FS9 today and from stock install with the 9.1 update - fps were between 50 and 80 with the average running about 63. This was with most settings at Dense or medium high, running 1366x768 (my max resolution). Processor wise - Duo to Quad core processors will perform better. The Intel i7 series or higher would be recommended. My system has the AMD duo core processor which works brilliantly. More info on the i7 core can be found here: Intel.com Am still a hardcore nVidia fan, but must say I am impressed with this ATI Mobility 4650. There is a faster model yet in the Mobility series, and that would work well. I thought I'd have problems with Fly!II - but the ATI 4650 works very well. Now I did load in some scenery from NZScenery for the Canterbury Plain area of Christchurch and the airport - frame-rates did drop into the 30fps range around NZCH - but that was more due to the UAC keeping me from properly making the entries and some of the stock buildings were not removed, so texture quandry there. FSX performs quite well - though with AI traffic turned up past say 35%, I do get drops into the single digit fps-wise in heavy metro areas. So even with this mid-range duo core processor, 4GB memory and a nice midrange video card, FSX can still bring the computer to a crawl. Am wishing I could afford an Alienware topline model - but alas - too meager a salary for that! LOLHope this all helps!
