Two gentlemen among many,Nick NeedhamJesus (Bojote)You two are my all-time nominated POWER TEAM for bringing my system at the moment to the hottest thing since sliced bread! Your latest posts, *******, have totally eradicated not only any 'problem' that I have had converting from Vista to W7, but have made my FSX animation run smooth and at max sustained FPS's. Simply FANTASTIC, *******. Nick's posts over the last two years has created the base that made most of anything possible. The two of you together, have made for the ultimate set-up and cfg. tweak experience I have ever had to date. Again, thank you very much gentlemen for your many posts, your many hours of personal research and cause/effect efforts. Your efforts have made it all come to fruition on April 5, 2010.Secondly, it is the following programs running in conjunction with FSX that is making what I am now seeing on my screen, beyond the Virtual. All my 'complaints' about FSX have now been made redundant and mute.To all the developers and free-ware hobbyists, for the following list..a most hearty thank you for your efforts, and profit and/or recognition aside, if the each of you didn't decided to invest your time and effort...my recently ended flight from the Caribbean to Portland, OR would not have been what it was for advancing the visual sensation that what I just did was 'as real as it gets...away from the computer as well as on it---for flight. The list is not in any order for prevalence...just as it came to mind.1. Rex2 Extreme for FSX----the best cloud, ocean, lake, stream, Caribbean reefs and shallows, I have ever seen in a flight sim.2. Active Sky Evolution---blows the doors off of A.S. 6.5! Best rendition of ground and metric haze I have ever seen, let alone cloud and atmospheric representation via REX2's cloud textures... The haze layer of FSX and even AS 6.5 is gone and dead. Good riddance. ASE rocks!3.UTX/GEX for total world texture upgrades---wonderful in its latest version!4.Orbx's PNW, for General Aviation Nirvana! It even looks good flying over it from the FL's.5. Paul's Caribbean Island free-ware volumes 1 to 5 --Paul...I have spent hours flying around the area of Dominica. Simply stellar work. You did for the Caribbean what ORBX did to for the PNW. Absolutely you did. Thank you !6. To the Russian author of the ENBSERIES 'bloom' effect through the use of D3D.dll and ini.file You sir have totally REMOVED the land of the CARTOON! With your effect 'as on', the world is full of deep rich color, and vibrancy. The clouds have brilliant luminescence while at the same time, the land and water below is not washed out by over driven contrast. Wonderful! Simply wonderful! You should see what it does for Paul's Caribbean, or the mountainous forests of PNW. Beyond belief. This valuable free-ware I consider a must have for removing the washed out pastels of FSX and bringing onto a viewer's monitor---colors that LOOK as real as anything I have seen for ground, land, roofs, trees, water. What it does to bring out the best of REX2 Extreme can't be put into words...you have to only view it.7. EZdok for the last page to add to the book on immersion to the 9's. On the ground, transitioning to the air, flying/cruising, and finally back to the wheels touching down---all in most realistic action and motion as though you are truly being manipulated by atmospherics, ground imperfections, and vibrations of aircraft flight frame and engine. The added benefit of being able to go in a second to a needed-for-flight-operation viewpoint, or a favorite view within the cockpit, cabin, or outside the aircraft is worth the price of this product alone, let alone the physics immersion.8. A.I. Smooth for FSX- this running in the background totally takes the hassle out of A.I. flight management. No more being run down upon final, better depiction of the following:9. My Traffic X--for making FSX's airports, international, regional, as well as municipal...down to grass landing strips, to full of animation and life (including military!) which adds to the sense of realism around you on the ground, or around in the air. Well done!10. FPS Frame Limiter Software--a hearty thank you to this author. I use it all the time, as it adds to the success! Thank you!11. To all the aircraft developers that I have dropped coin upon. Your detailed cabins, flight decks, instruments upon those decks, a most satisfying and part of the immersion recipe for flight simulation success. I love G.A. and most of my purchases were in that category. I know that others are loving their 'Heavy Iron' purchases! To all of the above, whether forum member, free-ware authors with unbounded generosity, and commercial developers, I can honestly say that today...is the BEST flight simulation experience I have ever had...and will have months and years now to enjoy. All of the above now runs FABULOUSLY with the others on my I7-975/GTX285 system overclocked to 4 GHz for the CPU and 6GB's of memory now running at stock 1033 MHz. With all of the aforementioned products in place and alongside FSX, and my system running as I have mentioned, I get constant 27-40 FPS with all sliders max'ed except for Autogen Density set to Very Dense, and Mesh Resolution set to 2M. Everything on Clouds is set to full out. Traffic is set to Commercial=30, G.A.=15, and Road Traffic=25. Nothing else is enabled on the Traffic Mask.Whether it was turning off DEEP GUARD on my virus program, as well as adding the latest BoJote tweaks to DISPLAY and GRAPHICS...who knows? Perhaps a combination of both...but no more crashes, no more freezes, just stellar smooth animation and no artifacts to boot. This is what prompted me to write this 'thank you' post. All today have come together for one h*ll of a flight simulation home computer experience.Great scenery!Great freeware and commercial purchase planes!Great animation!Great atmospheric depictions!Great system performance for all of it... (as of today).generates a 'GREAT' BIG--Thank you to all! :( Mitch

So Windows 7 is now as stable as XP64? If so I may move to that myself.

So Windows 7 is now as stable as XP64? If so I may move to that myself.
W7 was always stable with everything else that I ran under Vista. In FSX though (not FS9) I experienced some texture loss, flashing, I then started getting animation freeze, etc.W7 in conjuction with all the tweaks in place (I will give you my .cfg file for ease...) that I have now, today have given me flawless flights. No more complaints...only flying and enjoying. Here is my current (thank you post .cfg) I hope it works for you.Mitch;------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[bufferPools] Thanks, I have Win7 64. I may just install on my spare drive (so I don't lose my XP 64 install!) and test it out.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------The cfg sections that you need with required tweaks already in place, I posted. Take what you like off of them. :)Instead of BP=0, I find that BP=1000000 gives same performance and no artifacts, so I run on my system with that.Mitch
