Hi After installing my new Radeon 5830 card last week and after a number of tweaks i got with the help from the forum i did get FSX running sweet. Tonight though i decided to fire up FS9 and fly using my new Quality Wings 757 but after downloading the weather i was horrified to see my frame rates down as low as 4/5, what's gone wrong. My card before was an 8800 ultra and handles things no problem until it burnt out so i thought i would replace it with a superior card, but from the start i have had, it has been a disaster. As you can see from the rest of my set up achieving a good performace should be no problem but now when ever there is a cloud in the sky my system falls to it's knees. can some help me please on how to sort out this mess. kind regards Shaun

Try setting the mipmap slider to 4 or less in FS9 settings.

Hi Thanks for replying, unfortunatly i already have the mipmaps set at 4, i tried to lower them further but still had the same problem. After playing arround with my settings i disabled real weather which i had down loaded using REX so i just had a clear sky, frame rates were no problems what so ever, loaded up some clouds manually still no problem, put as much clouds on as possable, a slight it on frames but not much but as soon as i downloaded real weather the flight sim became unuseable, i also tried AES which i have installed and the exact ssame thing, what ever the problem is it would appear that it is possably linked to my weather engines, why, i have no idea. I hope anyone can shed some light in this. Regards Shaun

Hi I would appear to have descovered my problem is related to the AA settings inside the ATI ccc panel, if i have the settimgs all the way to the right, selecting super-sample i get a terrible frame hit but if i knock it back to adaptive sampling the problem is solved but the texture quality suffers. I dont know if anyone has experinced this problem. Regards Shaun

I have the same problem although I have a less powerful Video Card, an ATI Radeon HD 5400. I
