HiI have an Intel 2 quad core processor running at 2.50 Ghz, 4 Gb of RAM, an NVidia GT240 card and Windows 7 32 bit and would appreciate any comments as to how well, or otherwise, this will run FSX. I am currently using FS9 will no problems. Many thanks in advance.David

Not well enough, you need to buy a decent cooler for the processor, the best price performance choice is Prolimatech Megahalems and overclock it above 3.2 ghz, then change the video card with Nvidia GT260 and the operating system to windows XP 64 bit.

How well it will run FSX probably depends on your expectations. It certainly won't run at high settings, but you might get middle settings from it. If you plan to run FSX, do so and then tweak before doing any hardware or OS upgrades. tingri is right: overclocking will help, and XP 64-bit is superior to Vista 32-bit, but buy FSX and tweak first.

And a dedicated harddrive will help.

I have definite problems then.Mine is a dual core 2.3GHz and a NVidia 8600GTS graphics card. Vista 32 bit is the OS.I really need to upgrade to get any enjoyment out of FSX (I haven't played FSX for ages and the frames simply stutter too much), but moving to South Africa in 3 months makes it impossible.Too many other costs to worry about.

I've had a very similar machine for the last three years, and haven't been able to fly the last three years... but not because of the machine. You should be able to enjoy FS9, enjoy life and just put off flying FSX. Spoiler: The plot is the same.I can also recommend another nice flight "sim" that rocks. :( Are you going to be able to see any of the footy games down there this winter/summer?
