Early IL-96 with 744 style instrumentation?

I was having a read about the Illyushin IL-96, and was looking through flight deck photos on airliners.net.Since linking to a.net isn't allowed here, do a search in the photo database for IL-96 FD photos, there are 14. The one I'm referring to is the first uploaded, and is clearly the odd one out compared to the other photos. That PFD looks awfully familiar...so do the two status screens (upper/lower eicas on the 744). Note the EFIS control panel too. They are even in 'boeing beige', as are the CDUs!It looks like at the time this photo was taken the bird was a development aircraft, and the airframe was later converted for the -400T programme.Another photo:27_104965_7b8496d7c17a535.jpgThe instrumentation and layout are completely different on subsequent photos in the database. Does anyone know anything further about the avionics on this aircraft?

Hi,That is the Ilyushin 96M, which has never been built (except one or two prototypes, which has now been reconstructed to an IL96-400 with russian avianocs).Quoting Wikipedia:

Il-96MThis is a stretched variant of the Il-96-300. It features a 10 m (30 ft) fuselage stretch, is 15 tonnes (33,000 lb) heavier, is fitted with Western-style avionics, and is powered by four Pratt & Whitney PW2337 engines with a thrust rating of 165 kN (37,000 lbf). Range with 312 passengers in a three-class configuration or 92 tonne (203,000 lb) payload is about 10,400 km (5,600 nmi). This turned it into a true -but vastly more capable - Il-86 successor. The Il-96M/T is broadly comparable with the Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 777-200A, but is much cheaper. Development on the M/T variant stalled when the US Export-Import Bank suspended talks on financing the engines and avionics, due to Russia's economic problems.[3] The Il-96M also dispenses the need for a flight engineer. It is designed for a crew of two.
Today, the aircraft on your picture most probably flies for Polet airlines. The flightdeck looks like this now:www.airliners.net/photo/Polet-Flight/Ilyushin-Il-96-400T/1586094/M/Kind regardsMartin

I wish somebody would do a systems-heaby Il-96, or I wish Kyril Konovalov would finish the Il-86... Both options don't seem to work out however, so I guess it'll just stay a dream for now.
