Being newly signed up I hope this is the correct Forum to post my question. :( What benefits would SP2 give me with XP Pro OS and using NV7800 video cards DX9.1.Are there any visual or stability benefits or not?Would the SP2 update help or hinder ad-on's such as third-party scenery, aircraft or whatever?Oh yes, I have SP1 but that's all. Thanks, and sorry if this is the wrong Forum.

Coolan, more and more frequently we/you will see addons that REQUIRE SP2....Yes, I'm still SP1 on XP but my new Win7 FSX install is SP2 and it can run the newer stuff. If your install isn't too complex and loaded down, I'd say go ahead and up it to SP2Loyd

Thanks Loyd,Interesting and helpful. But does the sp2 patch give any benefits to the XP user if no extra add-ons are ,um,, added on ?What differences would I see or not see ?Thanks.

As far as the O/S is concerned the SP2 release most likely contains security updates.

SP2 has changed some of the ways FSX handles internal processes that should result in more efficient draw calls, etc. With a properly tuned system, http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=FSX - SP2 will make a difference. Some people have had problems with it but most are using it.

Can't say I noticed any difference on my system between SP1 and SP2. One important thing SP2 does though is allow FSX to address more than 2 megabytes of memory.IAN
