Yak 18T

:( :( :( This is amazing to me! I have a number of third party aircraft that feature cowl flaps, The Shockwave Spitfire Mk1a, The Carenado Bonanza V35B, The Fiat CR42 to name a few and in none of them do the cowl flaps have the slightest effect! Not on either tempurature (Cylinder head, coolant or oil) or drag. In looking through .air files and aircraft.cfg there seems to be no parameters for cowl flaps at all.Is this aircraft unique in this department or what am I missing here?! I had come to the conclusion that this was something that FS9 just chose to ignore.Cheers................Todd
Sorry for late reply but I haven't checked on this thread for a while. The temperature effects in the Yuzefov and co. Yak-18T were achieved through the gauges, not the .air or .cfg files. The Russian developers found a clever way to achieve realistic behavior and to simulate failures. This is one of the rare GA planes I have flown in FS9, that actually punish you for not flying it properly, with the most common failures being - overheating of the engine if improperly operated and a burst tire on hard landings. If you land hard you will notice the differential brakes come on and she starts to pull to one side, this simulates the effect of a burst tire. All achieved though the gauges.
Hello there, I actually own a Yak-18T, so if you have any questions re flying/operating/controls of this airplane, feel free to PM me. Cheers, Phil.
I've always wanted my own Yak-18T! You're lucky. Its a wonderful aircraft.

I am not sure if everyone is aware of the Project Oblivion outfit, but the guy who operates it converts FS9 and FSX aircraft to X-Plane, and it seems like it is done without permission as with all the other aircraft he converts. The Yak-18T by Alexey Yuzefov is the latest victim. Is there a way to notify Alexey about this?

Nope - I don't know who they are. If they are converting the freeware Yak-18T to X-plane I don't think Alexey Yuzefov and co would mind as long as he and his team are given adequate credit for their remarkable original work. If you want to try to contact him - he's e-mail is in the readme.txt of the Yak-18T download in the AVSIM Library - yakovlev_yak-18t.zip

Thanks Momtchil, I will download the file and contact Alexey. There is no readme or any credit given to the authors in the Project Oblivion conversion.
