April 20, 201016 yr I fly mostly PMDG products and was wandering if anyone can tell me if a 'Registered Copy of FSUIPC' is worth the money. I mostly fly the MD-11 along with the 737NG and 747. I know that the purchased software from PMDG has an unregistered copy of FSUIPC that is built-in to it so I was wandering if it is worth the money to purchase a 'Registered Copy' and if so, what would the features, advantages, & benefits be in so doing. Regards, jack noulet
April 20, 201016 yr Hi Jack, There are two benefits to a registered version (2 in my eyes). 1= The main reason is to help smooth the weather since the Default as well as weather addons may cause you probelms with wind shifts, turbulence and other issues.2= Being able to use it to fine tune your controls. With it you can just tweak your joystick better with more control as well as if you have various controls, buttons, panels (ie. Cockpit Builder type stuff) that need configurating. It allows you to do much more than the normal FS controls do.I think it's mostly used for #1, but I use it mainly for #2. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
April 20, 201016 yr Hi Dan,You mentioned fine-tuning yoke & rudder controls and I was curious about this very thing. I've noticed when flying the MD-11 that my control yoke jumps around a lot and is not very smooth. Will a registered copy smooth out some of these wild motion oscillations that I notice when viewing the yoke during flight in the VC mode? If so, I'm going to purchase it. Regards, jack noulet
April 20, 201016 yr The visual aspect is a FS thing and FSUIPC is for how the controls work, feel and perform. You will most likely still see the fish out of water flopping around thing I'm afraid. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
April 20, 201016 yr Another feature of FSUIPC full registered is the setting of hot-keys and key combinations to additional FS functions beyond what is directly available in FS. In FS9 I have a key set-up to toggle AI between 0% and 100% to make it easy to refresh AI into the proper airport pattern after weather applications have finished writing to the FS weather engine. In FS9 this also quickly brings ATIS up to date.I use for rudder control and my peds a sensitivity curve that is not linear. In the center region of my pedal yaw travel sensitivity is less than near the ends of the travel. This allows for fine center area pressure control of a coupled nosewheel for taxiing but retains the ability for full rudder deflection for in flight yaw control..Whether or not you decide to dully register FSUIPC get the latest version from:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlto replace the one delivered with your PMDG product. It is most likely outdated and may suffer from problems removed in later versions. You products should still register for their license OK as they do now.
April 20, 201016 yr I bought the registered version just for wind smoothing, that alone has made it worth it. Jay Vorkapic
April 20, 201016 yr Thanks to all of you who replied to my initial post. I am in process of purchasing FSUIPC.Regards to all, jack noulet
