Hello AllCan anybody tell me which effect file controls the PA jet engine shimmer effect?.I know you can turn it of using the tail hook thingy,but that doesn't work with all my models.I would like to remove the offending file if that is possible.PS well done PA for trying to get a decent shimmer ,but I have decided after some time that is would like remove it.cheers Andy

You cannot remove it on the A320 series, but you can with the A319 and A318 by using the Water Rudder Command(?).

This may or may not be 100% accurate, after all it is from (my) memory, but seems like I remember from the Project Airbus forum that you can simply remove the texture file named "Jetheat_t" from your chosen airbus texture folder to a backup to deactivate the heat shimmer. Worth a try any way. BTW. I just checked and none of my PA airbus texture folders contain that file and no ill effects. Hope this helps.Regards,MelP.S. PS If you answered my query at Flightsim com then thanks to you.At this moment i cannot log into FSCom.They have been altering there login procedures,passwords etc and no matter what combination of password,username I try I can no longer(temporarily i hope)log in to either the site or the forums.cheers Andy

Hello,Nothing to do with the effect section of the aircraft.cfg .. as the shimmer effect is burried in the model.You can't remove the effect in the Airbus 320 (it's in the model) and they want not modify this oneBut you can remove the effect for the 318 and 319..How ?With keyboard strokes :)SHIFT + W (note my keyboard is belgian layer :) )Methink you can check this on the Project Airbus forum.Flightsim log problem

It my be that that texture is treated similar to a 'texture(name)_L' that if FS doesn't find it in the related aircraft folder it looks elsewhere, and I did have one elsewhere. MelI did look through all my PA Airbus texture folders and some of them had the jetheat texture you described and others not so,but did remove them all anyway.I did know that with the 18s and 19s you can use the tailhook or anchor thingy to turn of the effect ,but not so the 320s.but regardless thanks for your help.cheers AndyPS for some strange reason the IFDG Air buses perform very poorly on my system(low frames,juddery flights etc so i cant use there 320s instead of the PA aircraft which are fine performance wise.Another FS9 mystery.
