Ai in FSX

Featured Replies

Maybe this is a simple problem...I have removed all 'Traffic_' bgl's... including FSX's standard traffic bgl, except the boat traffic bgl from the 'Scenery,World, scenery' folder...thats fine except I am still getting stock Ai traffic showing up in the Sim.I do not have any other traffic bgls in any other folder and have done a file search for all files with the word 'traffic' in them and still I have stock Ai showing up in the sim...is it possible for traffic to show up even if it is not prefixed with the name 'traffic' in the filename and if so what could it be named and what size could it be (assuming its the stock Ai traffic file)...so that I could search by file size...And finally if a traffic bgl is compiled using ttools, can aircraft not listed in the 'aircraft_' file still show up the sim? or do you need to delete all the flightplans with an aircraft number even if that aircraft is not in the aircraft list???Would appreciate any help as this is getting rather frustrating...By the way I have used AIFP to open the traffic bgls I have removed to see if the stock Ai aircraft appear in any of the aircraft lists...none of them do!!! (I have consolidated all the WOAI, MAIW traffic files into 11 bgl's...this has halved the time it takes FSX to load)regards, Russ

I don't believe you mentioned what Operating System you are using - XP, Vista or Win 7 ? If one of the latter, part of your problem may be a simple "permissions" issue.Traffic (of any kind) cannot be displayed unless there is an active traffic file controlling it. While the vast majority of traffic files do have the word "traffic" as a part of the name, FS does not read that - instead it reads a header in the bgl to determine if it is a traffic file or some other type of bgl. This is easily proven by renaming a known good traffic file as "Kitchen_Sink.bgl" - trust me, it will be seen and used as a traffic file.If you have indeed removed (or disabled by changing the extension to something like BGLX) all your traffic files in Scenery/World/scenery, and some aircraft are still displaying, then it is likely there is one or more traffic (possibly with no indication it is traffic related) files in some other active scenery subfolder. Some authors of scenery enhacements do this quite often. Not sure why you would want to "consolidate" WOAI files - that may make them next to impossible to update in the future. Hope this is helpful.

Hi David, thanks for your input...My operating system is vista 64 bit and I have all the permissions I need...I think!!!Ok so I understand that basically the file can be called anything you want...and that fs9 traffic bgl's over-ride the fsx bgls...now that I have removed all my WOIA/MAIW bgl's from 'scenery, world, scenery' it would appear that the stock Ai bgl is now been reactivated...only it is not in 'scenery, world, scenery' and does have the 'traffic' in the file name...so my next move was to deactivate all my addon scenery files and low and behold...no stock Ai...now the long process of narrowing it down to the culprit...thanks again!By the way...yes it is a bit more difficult to update the traffic files...but i'd rather have to do that occasionaly with the few airlines worth updating than wait 3-4 minutes every time I want to start the sim...which is a lot more often than I want to do an up-date...cheers for now,Russ.
