April 26, 201016 yr I am pretty much a hardware neophyte, and am near complete on my specs for a new computer. I plan on having a local computer shop put together the following components: Intel I7 930 (which will overclocked), ASUS P6T Deluxe V2, 6 GB Corsair 1600 MHz ram, and a GTX 285 1 GB video card. For all of you hardware experts, does the following make sense for hard drives. For the OS and all non FSX stuff, a WD Blue 500 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB cache drive. And just for FSX, a WD Velociraptor 300 GB 10,000 RPM, 16 MB cache drive.Any ideas or considerations you have would be appreciated.
April 27, 201016 yr The WD 300 gig raptor for FSX only is the way to go if you plan on adding any addons to FSX, this way you will have room to grow.I have my OS on a 250 gig partition of my 750 gig seagate. I use the other 500 gig as a separte data drive and on this drive I have all my MegaSceneryX and Earth photo scenery.Rod
April 29, 201016 yr Author Thanks for the reply Idaho. Seems there are a whole bunch of model numbers for the velociraptors. What model number do you have?
