April 27, 201016 yr Haven't noticed there's a new AS until yesterday when I saw SP1 for Active Sky Evolution has been released. I have been using your products for many years now and I'm currently very happy with ASA pefectly tuned together with FSUIPC so I guess what I would like to ask is if the improvements going from ASA to the new ASE is worth the hazzle starting to go through all configuration and settings all over again to have everything work really good. For all of you who has already made the jump from ASA->ASE it would be great to hear what your experiences have been, both when it comes to improvements between the two different products but also any problems you've experienced doing so.And please don't take my question wrong guys, I'm very happy you continue to try to improve your already great product but at the same time I'm very careful messing around with my current setup at the moment considerig how good everything is working right now :(
April 27, 201016 yr I find that ASE seems to make the weather look a little nicer than ASA so I'm glad that I installed it. In FS9 I still get cloud popping but haven't had the chance to try ASE SP1 yet. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
April 27, 201016 yr Author OK, thanks for your input and guess I'll give it a try myself...mentally it just feels better knowing you're running the latest version :(Could someone from HiFi or maybe if someone else know tell me in what locations files are updated by running the upgrade from ASA to ASE? My setup is Windows 7 on the C partition and FSX together with other FSX related stuff like ASA on the F partition. I have an image of my C partition so that one is easy to restore should I want to but as for the F partition I would like to know if it's enough that I make a copy of the F:\Program Files (x86)\HiFi folder or if there are other locations touched by the upgrade as well? Thanks in advance!
April 27, 201016 yr FSX or FS9?I've been using ASE for FS9 and it has worked great. I haven't tested it in FSX myself, but it seems that some have issues. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
April 27, 201016 yr Hi Richard,If you use the upgrade, ASA must stay installed. If you use the Full ASE, ASA can be removed.Don't install anything into the Program Files folder that you are actively using. OK to back things up there.
April 29, 201016 yr Author I realize you have to have ASA installed to use the ASE upgrade, just wanted to know what files very modified or affected in any other way if I for some reason would have wanted to go back but never mind, ran the upgrade yesterday and everything seems to be working just fine without modifying any settings so all is good for now and I'll do some more flying the next coming days.
