Hi,Had RC running and working with FS9 until Windows decided it's time for a crash. Reformatted my drive, this time using FSX, loaded and installed the RC4 program, of course the old key did not work, so I send an email and within 10 mins got a new key. The first thing that struck me was the new key is twice as long as the original, anyway, I copied and pasted it into the key field box. RC waits a moment then as promised shuts down. Now comes the weird part: When I click to start RC, a lil window pops up searching for Active Aky 6. I don't have AS6 anymore. It wants me to look in my temp folder or that the program is installed on a network drive, which I do not have, so I hit cancel as I have no other option, then RC pops up informing me it is not registered. Tried the whole procedure 3 times, no luck. Searched the whole registry for anything AC6 related but did not find anything. I am at the end of my wits and pretty frustrated.Any ideas or suggestions highly welcomed Thanks in advance,Pat

every time i've seen or heard of that, it was a leftover install from something, else.if the key is longer, then the key request was probably not formatted correctly.it's format is nnnnnn ! first ! lasti found your key requests. you had 3 or 4 tabs, returns between the product id.and pretty stationary, which is usually ignored by the key generatori removed all the junk, and re-queued your key requests. there were 2 different ones, so i fixed both of themjd

that's exactly what I did. I just uninstalled RC, then re-installed, got a reg key, still the same. I guess I have to just forget about it as you have not answered my question at all. I sent the request directly from within RC and the new reg key is still twice as long. I dunno why this has to be so compliated. 50 bucks out the window.

it's not rc that has to be uninstalled. it's the other app that didn't install cleanly, or didn't clean up after itself.there is no 50 bucks out the window. i don't operate that way.what is the product id on the registration screen? i fixed your key requests, removed all the funny characters, and the pretty stationary, and the keys went out as follows:Success @ 4/28/2010 8:42:59 PM (2022715614) INLMMBCCEFLNIANJOHFCHBMKLAJCIBENSuccess @ 4/28/2010 8:42:59 PM (476876511) JNODIIEBDHAHACOOJEMFACAGOHDHJHEDyou have to right mouse click the rc icon/shortcut or .exe, and click run as administrator. paste in the key. if your product is isn't one of those two, tell me what it is.if you can't get it to work, send me an email, and i'll refund your 50 bucks.jd

JD Thank you! It now works. Copy and pasted one of them keys you posted above: > (Success @ 4/28/2010 8:42:59 PM (xxxxxx5614) INLMMBCCEFLNIANJOHFCHBMKLAJCIBEN) <and everything is back to normal. :( Sorry for being impatient, but I tried every step described and for the life of me couldnt figure out what to do. Even tho, this Active Sky thing still pops up. No idea how to get rid of it. I attached a .jpg that displays what pops up when I click to start RC4. This thing pops up 3 times, then dissappears and RC starts. If you have any suggestions on how to get rid of this... its just weird...Either way, appologies for being a bit rude, I just couldnt wait to get up in the air and have some real people talk to me. lolkindest regards,Pat

RC has no relation with AS (I have AS 6.5). I'm going to guess that you started an AS install (under Win 7) running the installer not logged in as an admin and also did not start the AS installer with its .exe set to run as an admin. Maybe if you start Win 7 in safe mode (if you can - if all else fails) and logged in as an admin it might finish. See if AS is in ADD/Remove programs and remove it. Then reboot Win 7 and see if the AS pop-ups are gone. Then log in as admin. set the .exe install to run as admin, and see if it completes. You can also try installing in safe mode to see if that works. I highly advise not installing anything in Win 7 under any program files folder that regards FS and its add-ons. I also recall that running the downloaded installer creates a folder with yet another installer and it goes from there. Make sure you are logged in as an admin and set all .exes in those folders to the run as admin property. Here is the link for the Hi-Fi Sim forum for AS:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showforum=171Now that you have RC reinstalled and when you get your AS problem solved, go to the FSUIPC and Makerwys link below and install the latest versions in case your add-on installs put an earlier version into FS and FS modules folders. Note that the FS9 version of makerwys is for FSX as well. The FSUIPC install is now an .exe. Be logged in as an admin and set the .exe to run as admin.http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
